Known for high fashion and luxury beauty, Chanel personifies timeless elegance and style. The best Chanel watches for women bring couture glamour to your wrist.

In their 30 years of watchmaking, Chanel has launched dozens of truly iconic timepieces. The CHANEL watch collection debuted in 1987 with the dazzling ‘Première’ watch. Since then, their watches have gained acclaim for their spectacular beauty and quality.

Recently, I spent a heavenly afternoon in the Fine Watches department of Harrods, Knightsbridge, researching the Chanel timepiece collection. Just like a moth to the flame, resistance was futile.

Best Chanel Watches For Women

Breathtaking designs with just the right amount of sparkle, the best Chanel watches for women are utterly chic and timeless. Here are 8 timepieces to consider.

1. J12 WATCH, 33 MM

Review

The Chanel J12 watch is a true statement piece, balancing functionality and elegance in one eye-catching timepiece that’s ideal for work, rest and play.

The white lacquer face is incredibly easy to read with large, black numbers and hands. Fine 5-minute markers around the outer part of the dial are a nice touch.

One of the benefits is the tough, scratch-resistant 33mm white ceramic and steel case and link-style bracelet are chunky but feminine. I love the ceramic fronted unidirectional steel bezel with its steel edges.

Rarely do we see white watches of such quality. Chanel has managed to stray into the same territory as bold, plastic sports watches while retaining that quintessential Parisian elegance that the brand is known for.

For something more sporty but still feminine, check out the Chopard Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph Watch.

Review

And now for some diamonds! The Chanel J12 diamond bezel watch is a head-turning timepiece that is perfect for fancy occasions. It features a white lacquered dial with diamond hour markers, making it easy on the eye.

The larger 38mm white ceramic and steel case is both tough and scratch-resistant, while the link-style bracelet is both chunky and feminine.

The diamond-encrusted unidirectional steel bezel with its steel edges adds plenty of luxury and sophistication.

Equally suitable for a dressy night out or a shopping trip, the Chanel J12 watch is the perfect way to add a touch of elegance to your outfit. It is a timeless classic that will never go out of style.

3. PREMIÈRE CHAÎNE

Review

Part of the original ‘Première’ collection, this watch is definitely more in line with what you might expect from Chanel. Delicate, feminine, and dripping with diamonds for effortless chic.

The black lacquer dial looks like a large gemstone, devoid of decoration, marked only by steel watch hands and a small “CHANEL” logo. All of this simplicity is underpinned by an encrusted diamond edge with no less than 56 brilliant-cut diamonds.

An onyx cabochon crown tops off the look perfectly. The twisted steel chain-link bracelet looks delicate and feminine yet well made and durable.

I love this watch and would say that if you want an elegant evening watch to finish a formal outfit, look no further. It’s even water-resistance to 30m, so it can certainly handle getting splashed by a spilt glass of champagne.

4. BOY·FRIEND WATCH

Review

Feminine and sophisticated yet relaxed and a little off-beat, the Boy·Friend watch is a perfect example of the often quirky ways that Chanel approaches female fashion and accessories.

At first glance, the quilted calfskin strap is what really stands out on this watch – Chanel tends to favour metals and jewels over leather when it comes to looks, but when they do use it, the effect is predictably stunning.

Rich, smooth, and finished with impeccable stitching, this strap perfectly contrasts the large, square, stainless steel case. Ringed with 64 brilliant-cut diamonds and a black spinel cabochon crown.

The opaline guilloche dial has circular engraved lines, a dainty date indicator, steel hands, and a subtle grey “CHANEL” logo. I feel that this watch turns glamour into an art form, similar to the Cartier Tank Américaine watch.

A perfect daytime watch with a little bit of classic Chanel glitz and glamour, this timepiece is as versatile as it is beautiful. One to wear to a fancy afternoon tea at The London Ritz? Pair it with a Chanel handbag.

34.6 x 26.7 x 7.3 mm

5. CODE COCO WATCH

Review

Gabrielle Chanel herself said that fashion passes, but style remains. The ‘Code Coco’ watch is very much a product of this Avant-Garde approach to style vs fashion.

I must confess I could not take my eyes off this timepiece. Decorated with a carved grid pattern, the bracelet itself oozes class. The diamond-encrusted bezel (holding 52 brilliant-cut diamonds) contrasts nicely with the black lacquer dial.

Set with the iconic “CHANEL” trademark and simple steel hands, the tiny watch face is topped by a mirroring space that holds a single princess cut diamond. This is a piece of art as much as a functional timepiece.

The Code Coco watch is the ultimate option if you want a statement piece that screams ‘Haute Couture” wherever you go. There is no other watch like this, and that’s part of its inimitable charm.

6. MADEMOISELLE PRIVÉ WATCH

Review

Minimalist and sophisticated, this watch is the very personification of the ‘little black dress’ that made Coco Chanel the superstar of her day. If you want the same sexy subtlety in your timepiece, the “Mademoiselle Privé” is the right watch for you.

This is undoubtedly one of the more bejewelled timepieces. The case itself is ringed with 60 brilliant-cut diamonds, while the camellia design on the dial has 27 brilliant-cut diamonds embedded in it.

A simple black satin strap and white gold buckle do not outshine the striking case and black dial with its whirling camellia motif.

This timepiece really is the ‘LBD’ of the watch world. No matter where you take this watch, you will feel glamorous, timeless and chic.

7. PREMIÈRE CAMÉLIA SKELETON

Review

Another member of the ‘Première’ collection, the ‘Camélia Skeleton’ watch is, in my humble opinion, the most attention-grabbing than others in the range.

For a start, the white gold case is rectangular, and while this may seem like a small thing, it changes the whole silhouette of the watch at first glance.

Secondly, there is the matter of the watch face which is swallowed by the whirling camellia skeleton design. Ringed by the 104 diamonds surrounding the bezel and topped by the diamond-encrusted hands, I am in love!

Chanel has pulled off a subtle yet jaw-dropping timepiece, which may seem strange given its truly audacious gem count. The thing is that despite the sheer number of diamonds it holds, this piece doesn’t look or feel gaudy; you could even wear it to brunch… if you were going to a fancy place, haha!

Also, consider the Boucheron Reflet Small Gold Watch for something similar in gold, but without the skeleton design.

Case Diameter:

37 x 28.5 x 10.2 mm

Water Resistance:

Up to 30 meters

8. J12∙XS WATCH, 19 MM

Review

The second piece from the J12 collection on this list, the Chanel JS XS Watch, is a monochrome kaleidoscope with lots of black, steel, and, not forgetting… diamonds!

Black ceramic and steel come together in the link bracelet and round case of this watch, giving it a charmingly monochrome-esque look at first glance.

Unlike other watches on this list, it has a simple steel bezel; the diamonds are reserved for the edge of the black lacquer dial (perhaps because of its small size). Likewise, there are diamonds set in the centre of the bracelet.

The total diamond count for this watch, get ready, is 148 brilliant-cut diamonds – WOW. Despite this, it doesn’t look fragile or graceless. Quite the opposite, this has a durable and stylish appearance that is incredibly attractive.

Looking for a feminine timepiece that is brimming with classic Chanel glamour? This is the watch for you. It is also incredibly versatile and works for any occasion, thanks to its delicate proportions.

Case Diameter:

19 x 7.66 mm

Water Resistance:

Up to 30 meters
