Confident, bright, and fresh, the best lavender fragrances for men leave a lasting impression. Here are 12 lavender scents every man should consider.
1. Tom Ford – Beau De Jour Eau de Parfum
Review
Beau De Jour Eau de Parfum is a fresh barbershop style fragrance with vibrant touches of spice and herbs. Released in 2020, this Tom Ford creation is masculine, refined, and in my opinion, has a real old-school feel about it.
This fragrance opens with bright, cheerful lavender that instantly brings carefree feelings of summer-time. A heart of herbs adds complexity. Most noticeable are rosemary and mint, with a hint of basil. Geranium introduces manly green floral notes but is soon overtaken by lush oakmoss.
Upon dry-down, a vibrant dose of musky/earthy patchouli goes to work, supported by hints of warm amber. This fragrance settles into a fresh smelling lavender/patchouli combo with light herbs and oakmoss.
I would recommend this fragrance for spring/summer and autumn for daytime wear. This is a versatile fragrance that suits both formal and more casual occasions. Think shopping trips, post-exercise, lunches, and more formal daytime events such as weddings and garden parties. Its also office safe.
As you would expect from a focused lavender fragrance, performance is not staggering. However, you can expect 4+ hours of longevity from Beau De Jour with reasonable sillage and projection.
The presentation is top-notch. The clear glass bottle and the silver cap both have vertical grooves that give an Art-Deco feel. The silver label on the front of the bottle has nicely engraved lettering.
Overall, Tom Ford’s Beau De Jour is a mature take on a barbershop fragrance. By shying away from the citrus notes that one would expect to encounter, the lavender, patchouli and herbs can really shine.

2. Creed – Bois du Portugal Eau de Parfum
Review
Capturing the lush Portuguese highlands, Bois du Portugal Eau de Parfum from Creed is a rich woody aromatic fragrance. Launched in 1987, this versatile gentlemen’s scent feels modern, youthful and remains a firm Creed favourite.
A vibrant opening of zesty bergamot leads into a heart of fragrant, blooming lavender that brings welcoming floral cheer to the initial citrus introduction.
Upon dry-down, cedar and sandalwood are both jostling for your attention. Hints of grassy vetiver and the animalic ambergris rise after an hour or so. This scent settles into a masculine woody/lavender combo that smells modern, distinguished and refined.
I feel that Bois du Portugal is a versatile any-season daytime fragrance. It has a bright and cheerful personality with hidden woody depths that add a touch of mystery. This is a confident, every-day scent that is also ideal for office wear.
Performance is good, and you can expect 6+ hours of wear with decent sillage and projection. The lavender and woody notes last exceptionally well.
The presentation of the 100ml bottle is eye-catching with its curved shoulders and black cap. The Creed crest on top of the stopper in gold adds a regal vibe.
Overall, Bois du Portugal is a masculine any-season fragrance that smells expensive and refined. Bright lavender fused with natural smelling sandalwood and light citrus produces a true masterpiece.

3. Dunhill – Valensole Lavender Eau de Parfum
Review
Dunhill Valensole Lavender Eau de Parfum is an addictive lavender prominent aromatic woody scent that is part of the ‘Signature Collection’ launched in 2020. Masculine, confident and incredibly sexy, the nose behind this fragrance is Jerome Di Marino.
The opening of natural smelling zesty lemon is nicely spiced with nutmeg and rich saffron. A heart of vibrant lavender blooms at full power and is supported by sage and spicy cardamom.
Dry-down reveals a base of dry, grassy vetiver combined with amberwood and Guaiac wood’s warm subtle woodiness. Settles to a vibrant lavender focused fragrance with masculine spice and a discreet base of woody notes.
Valensole Lavender is a feel-good fragrance that I feel is suited for any season, day or night. The lemon and lavender combo proved a spring/summer feel. Herbs, spices and woods add versatility for the colder weather.
Equally wearable for casual and more formal engagements, think general daywear when out and about, eating out, date night, city breaks. It would also make a classy office scent.
Longevity is decent at 6+ hours with good sillage and projection. A confidently masculine floral scent that will get you noticed for all the right reasons.
Presented in the same style as the other Dunhill ‘Signature Collection’ fragrances. The clear-glass bottle displaying the pale blue scent inside is finished with a metal cap with fancy etching.
Overall, Dunhill Valensole Lavender is a sophisticated and expensive smelling male fragrance. The lavender is masculine thanks to the addition of herbs, spices and wood with lemon providing lift. Excellent work, Dunhill!

4. Amouage – Sunshine Man Eau de Parfum
Review
Sunshine Man Eau de Parfum from Amouage smells as striking today as it did when launched in 2015. This incredibly complex mix of floral, booze and vanilla notes is utterly divine and draws you in completely. You have been warned!
The opening is a decadent combination of fragrant lavender, fantastic boozy orange brandy and the burnt sugar scent of immortelle. If that’s not enough, a heart of fresh juniper and bergamot are spiced by clary sage.
Upon dry-down, vanilla/tonka bean claw their way through the battlefield to work their sweet magic with the lavender, orange and burnt sugar. This scent never fully settles and continues to surprise for hours.
It’s not often I find it hard to place a scent, but Sunshine Man has so much going on. It’s more than just a summer scent, as the name would suggest. This feels like a mood-lifting any-season daytime male fragrance that is fine for formal or casual wear.
Sunshine Man was still enjoyable after 6+ hours on my skin at arm’s length. Projection and sillage are also good. The lavender and orange brandy perform well, vanilla is close behind.
The presentation from Amouage is always spot-on. The classic style straight-lined bottle brightened by a sunshine motif. The rather regal-looking white and gold neck complete the look.
Overall, Amouage Sunshine Man is a uniquely complex culmination of florals, sweet, spice and herbs that continue to delight as it never fully settles. Not a blind buy; however, I personally found this fragrance a sublime mood lifter that I would wear just for me.

5. Maison Martin Margiela REPLICA – At The Barber’s Eau de Toilette
Review
You are sitting comfortably in the barber’s chair, your eyes are shut, and a skin-melting hot towel has been placed on your face; Cue At The Barber’s by Maison Martin Margiela. Released in 2012, this spicy, fresh gentleman’s fragrance was created by nose Louise Turner.
This fragrance opens with fresh and slightly bitter orange dusted with pepper that is soon overtaken by fragrant basil. Lavender is quick to establish itself as the dominant note of this scent. Rosemary and earth/green geranium hover on the sidelines.
Dry-down reveals a musky base that adds to the masculine feel. Green moss, delicate leather and a hint of almond from tonka bean. Settles to an upmarket barbershop fragrance of lavender, zest and musk with an undercurrent of herbs.
More than just a hot weather scent, I would use this for spring/summer and autumn. It leans more to the casual side, so ideal for shopping trips, city breaks, sightseeing, errands, al fresco lunches, and generally chilling out.
The performance of this fragrance is a reasonable 4+ hours with moderate sillage and projection. These notes will never create a beast-mode frag, and I feel Maison Martin Margiela has produced a solid scent here.
The bottle is nicely presented, reminiscent of an old fashioned fly killer. The spray mechanism is striking and works really well.
Overall, At The Barber’s is a delightful barbershop style fragrance with all the freshness you would expect, plus a manly injection of herbs and musk. What more could you ask for?

6. Yves Saint Laurent – La Nuit de l’Homme Eau de Toilette
Review
La Nuit de l’Homme Eau de Toilette is a warm and seductive masculine fragrance that blends lavender and cardamom to stunning effect. Released in 2009, perfumer titans Anne Flipo and Dominique Ropion created this classic male fragrance.
The opening is a graceful combination of fragrant lavender and cardamom sprinkled with black pepper and a mere splash of bergamot. The lavender blooms still further in the heart and becomes the most dominant note overall. Cedar also creeps in and is closely supported by the mildly spiced cardamom and pepper.
The grassy hay-like scent of coumarin (like a candied version of vetiver) adds some enjoyable sweetness to the base. This fragrance settles to a feel-good combination of lavender and cardamon with subtle sweet woody hints.
I like this fragrance because it can be worn in any-season as no single note overpowers. The lavender is bright enough for spring/summer/autumn, and the cardamom is warming and winter-like. This is a dressy evening fragrance.
The performance of the 2021 formulation is not outstanding, I have to say. I managed 3+ hours of longevity with the projection less than an arm’s length. This is more of an intimate male fragrance best worn for close-up indoor occasions.
The presentation is classy. The 6-sided oversized cap is a great design feature and really adds some style to the discreet curved clear glass bottle.
Overall, La Nuit de l’Homme is a sedate, understated male fragrance with a beautiful fusion of lavender and cardamom that hovers close to the skin. Best worn for indoor occasions unless it gets a more substantial reformation from the 2021 sample I tested.

7. Jean Paul Gaultier – Le Male Eau de Toilette
Review
And here we have the all-time classic Jean Paul Gaultier masculine fragrance created by Francis Kurkdjian. Le Male Eau de Toilette is a crowd-wowing blend of lavender, vanilla and mint that still generates plenty of compliments since its launch in 1995.
Le Male opens with a fanfare of lavender and fresh mint, supported by bergamot and a hint of cardamon. Mid notes are spicier, with cinnamon and caraway moving in and orange blossom introducing white floral notes.
The dry-down is a delight, with delicious vanilla and creamy/almondy tonka bean joining forces. Rich amber and mild woods add depth. If you have not tried the original Le Male in a while, it’s time you did.
The longevity of this scent is good. You can expect 5+ hours of wear with projection and sillage for at least 3+ hours of that. There are better performing versions of this fragrance, but the original is the boss of the vanilla/lavender combo.
In my opinion, this is an any-season fragrance that is one to wear from late afternoon until the sun comes back up again. This is an ideal scent for almost any occasion: parties, weddings, clubs, date night and even post-exercise.
Presented in the familiar Le Male figurine bottle with pastel blue glass and white striped t-shirt. The silver ring-pull sprayer still looks fresh in design.
Overall, Le Male Eau de Toilette has actually become a classic masculine lavender/vanilla fragrance. It has a well-balanced blend of spices, florals, citrus and woods that projects a man of confidence.

8. Tom Ford – Lavender Extrême Eau de Parfum
Review
Released in 2019, Tom Ford’s Lavender Extrême Eau de Parfum is a nuclear explosion of aromatic lavender and tonka bean that is ideal for lavender lovers everywhere. This is lavender cranked up to volume level 11; you have been warned.
This fragrance opens with zesty lemon and powdery violet that soon melts into an intensely floral heart of fragrant lavender. Rose and geranium attempt to add support but are swiftly overpowered. Cinnamon does manage to claw its way to the surface.
Upon dry-down, the tonka bean base adds its rich almondy sweetness to balance this otherwise lavender focused fragrance. Settles to a lavender/tonka bean delight.
Although you may think a lavender-focused fragrance may only be for the warmer weather, I feel this makes an all-year-round scent that veers more towards daytime wear.
Performance from Lavender Extrême is excellent, with 8+ hours of longevity and good sillage and projection. The lavender here is bold!
The bottle design is classic Tom Ford with its clean and crisp lines. The metallic silver bottle certainly not give any visual indication of the lavender explosion lurking inside.
Overall, with a name like Lavender Extrême, you instinctively know what you are in for. In my book, Tom Ford rarely puts a foot wrong, and this fragrance is no exception. Realistic lavender and vanilla with sensual spices. Wow!

9. Prada – Luna Rossa Eau de Toilette
Review
Prada Luna Rossa Eau de Toilette is a vibrant and fresh masculine fragrance with an attention-seeking bitter twang that adds a touch of mystery. Released in 2012, the nose behind this fragrance is Daniela Andrier.
This scent opens with a blast of fragrant lavender infused with an unusual bitter orange note. A heart of fresh mint lifts the lavender opening further, with sage adding some nice masculine touches.
The dry-down is quite discreet as musky/woody ambrette is gently lifted by hints of sweet ambroxan. Settles to a lavender/mint combo with cheeky bitter orange and sage.
Prada Luna Rossa’s longevity is relatively good at 4+ hours before it settles to a skin scent. Sillage and projection are both moderate.
I suggest Luna Rossa is a fresh spring/summer daytime fragrance that is equally wearable for casual and formal occasions. Think brunch, shopping trips, running errands, city breaks. It is also an office-safe scent.
The presentation is quality and really stands out. The lower part of the bottle is clear glass, and the upper section is brushed metal. A vertical red stripe displays the Prada name in white text, and a red dot on the sprayer allows for precise spraying.
Overall, Prada Luna Rossa is a contemporary male fragrance of fresh mint and feel-good lavender with an edgy bitter orange note that brings it together.

10. Montblanc – Legend Eau de Toilette
Review
Legend Eau de Toilette from Montblanc is a sweet tropical fruity fragrance with lavender and spicy touches. Launched in 2011, perfumer Olivier Pescheux is the nose behind this mature men’s scent.
This opening is sweet and tropical, with pineapple and bergamot competing with heavy lavender and delicate lemony verbena. A fruity heart of apple and sweet dried fruits is offset by earthy geranium and musky oakmoss.
The dry-down of sandalwood and tonka bean is light and never managed to overpower the fruits and lavender. Settles to a fruity/lavender combo with a delicately spicy kick.
Although longevity is 5+ hours just above the skin, you will need re-apply every 3 hours to project at arm’s length.
This fruity/floral fragrance with a spicy undercurrent is ideal for daytime wear in any season. It’s a casual male sent that’s wearable for any occasion.
The presentation is minimalistic and eye-catching. The glossy black bottle almost looks like a luxurious hip flask. The shoulders and cap are metal with the Montblanc name engraved into the stopper.
Overall, Montblanc Legend is a worthy contender if you fancy a discreet lavender scent with a fruity tropical vibe.

11. Parfums de Marley – Percival Eau de Parfum
Review
Percival Eau de Parfum from Parfums de Marley is a refreshing and uplifting blend of bright citrus notes and blooming lavender nestling a gently spiced woody base. This exceptionally versatile masculine fragrance was launched in 2018.
This fragrance opens with semi-sweet mandarin and sharp bergamot that create a fresh, energetic vibe. A floral heart of feel-good lavender and earthy/green geranium ensure an authentic summer-time feel.
Upon dry-down, this fragrance introduces a base of spiced woods, pine, and the sweet/musky aroma of ambroxan adding depth that brings everything together nicely. Settles to a lavender/musk combo with hints of citrus and pine.
Percival is a spring/summer/autumn fragrance that I found bright and refined (mainly due to the musk). Ideal as a daytime scent, you can wear this fragrance as a post-gym scent, lunches, dates, shopping trips, days out.
Performance is pretty good for a floral/musk dominated male scent. This is a medium-lasting fragrance providing 4+ hours of wear before fading to a skin scent. Projects well fo the first 3 hours, sillage is reasonable too.
Percival is presented in the classic style you would expect from Parfums de Marly. The bottle is mid-blue in colour with a silver cap, and the dual rearing horses logo is embossed into the bottle. Looks and feels expensive.
Overall, Percival Eau de Parfum is an energising, fresh and masculine lavender and musk led fragrance with a sensual twist of spiced woody notes and spices.

12. Penhaligon’s – Sartorial Eau de Toilette
Review
Penhaligon’s Sartorial Eau de Toilette is a jaw-dropping combination of masculine flowers and sweetness balanced by woods, spice and metallic notes. Released in 2010, the perfumer behind this fragrance is Bertrand Duchaufour.
This scent opens with a kaleidoscope of notes. Nose twitching metallic and aldehydes are quick to delight—spices of cardamom, ginger and black pepper dance in the background with hints of florals.
A heart of honey-coated lavender soon becomes the star note overall, with leather and additional masculine flowers adding complexity.
Dry-down is mainly earthy/amber oakmoss and woods, with a slight resinous twang. Settles to a lavender-led male fragrance with an unusual blend of honey, wood, spices and metallic.
I would deem this an any-season daytime fragrance due to its complexity and depth. Reach for this fragrance when you want to smell like on-one else in the room! Ideal for fancy lunches, garden parties, brunch, shopping trips.
Performance of Sartorial is moderate to fair. I managed 3+ hours of longevity with mild projection and sillage before it settles into a skin scent.
This fragrance is presented in a sedate upright bottle with a circular stopper and fancy bow. Does not look overly masculine, but the juice inside certainly is.
Overall, Sartorial Eau de Toilette is an absolute delight. Sure, its not your super long-lasting beast-mode clubbing frag, but that’s the point. This is a quality gentlemen’s fragrance that grabs your attention in a heartbeat with its ultra-realistic feel-good notes.
