What Does Freesia Smell Like? Freesia is a sweet-smelling flower that gives hints of summer fruits. In perfumery, the note of freesia is floral, green/fresh, slightly sweet, fruity and somewhat powdery.

Best Freesia Perfumes For Women

Here is my take on the best smelling freesia perfumes for women. Each fragrance will leave you smelling floral, fresh and utterly irresistible.

1. Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia Eau de Cologne

Review

Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia Cologne is a beautifully blended fruity/floral fragrance that screams spring and summer. This uplifting freesia scent was released in 2010 by the brand.

Opening notes of sweet pear and the exquisite floral fruitiness of freesia dominate from the start. A soft rose note creeps in the heart (although not listed), and the whole scent settles on a base of musky patchouli, amber and hints of woods.

This freesia delight is the ideal Jo Malone scent for spring and summer. Only lasts 3+ hours, so it will need a cheeky top-up. Also, consider Maison Martin Margiela Lazy Sunday Morning as although a rose fragrance, it’s similar.

Review

Diptyque Ofrésia Eau de Toilette is a clean smelling florally fragrance that adds a sensual layer of spice. Originally released in 1999, this is an elegant interpretation of freesia that is fresh and uplifting.

Freesia gets straight to work in the opening, providing feminine white floral notes that are clean, fresh, a little sweet, with a touch of green. Pepper dusted woody notes come in after an hour to hover nicely in the background.

This is a spring/summer fragrance that I feel is ideal for shopping trips, gardens parties and easy-going lunches. Last 3-4 hours with reasonable sillage and projection. Don’t forget to check out my review of 10 other fabulous Diptyque fragrances.

Review

Chanel Beige Eau de Parfum is part of their stunning Les Exclusifs de Chanel range and was launched in 2008. Elegant floral notes are nourished with gourmand honey and a touch of the tropical in this provocative feminine fragrance.

The tropical floral note of frangipani is soothed by rich honey. A beautiful heart of freesia with a slight soapiness to it soon casts its alluring magic. Hawthorn flower provides a spicy, almond-like note in the base to add a welcome touch of mystery.

This fragrance is ideal for spring/summer/autumn daytime wear. Longevity is 6+ hours with moderate projection. Check out my full review of 8 Les Exclusifs de Chanel fragrances!

5. Burberry My Burberry Eau de Toilette

Review

Burberry My Burberry Eau de Toilette is a crowd-pleasing floral fragrance that is both modern and chic. Perfumer genius Francis Kurkdjian created this floral feast that was launched in 2015.

The punchy opening is a sparkling mix of sweet pea and lemon blossom. Peony and freesia are next to bloom, releasing a wave of fresh, feel-good florals. Musk, white moss and damask rose in the base are discreet but present. Settles to an uplifting floral scent.

Season-wise, I would wear this for spring, summer and autumn for pretty much any occasion. It is also office safe. Longevity is the only drawback. After 3+ hours, this fragrance fades, so over spraying is recommended.

You can pick this scent up cheaply, so a bargain for Kurkdjian lovers. Consider My Burberry Eau de Parfum for added performance.

Review

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Bloom Eau de Toilette is a well-balanced blend of pretty flowers and fruits that will put a spring in your step and a smile on your face. This version is ideal for those who found the original Flowerbomb too overpowering.

A fruity sweet opening of pomegranate splashed with zesty orange leads to a magnificent heart of flowers. Freesia is the star of the show, supported by sweet jasmine and elegant rose. Settles to a pretty floral fragrance with fruity edges and a sensual woody/musky base.

This is a versatile spring/summer/autumn fragrance that is good for any occasion, dressy or casual. Performance-wise, Flowerbomb Bloom is the best of the bunch, offering 5+ hours of longevity with good sillage and projection.

Conclusion

Freesia is one of those flowers that you forget how fresh and beautiful it actually smells. I personally love a freesia-dominant fragrance when it’s supported by rose or peony and a touch of musk as it just smells so elegant and refined.

Can’t decide on the best freesia perfume for you? My two personal recommendations from this list are Diptyque Ofrésia Eau de Toilette and Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Bloom Eau de Toilette.
