Viktor & Rolf’s Spicebomb Dark Leather, launched in 2024, is a compelling addition to the renowned Spicebomb collection, offering a refined blend of spices, leather, and tobacco.

I must confess that I was more than a tad excited to try this Dark Leather version, and thankfully, it does not disappoint. It’s stylish and decadent but not too in-your-face as other Spicebomb scents in the collection that I could mention.

Opening: A Spicy Introduction

The fragrance opens with a dynamic combination of black pepper and nutmeg, delivering an immediate burst of warmth and spice. This robust opener sets the stage for the scent’s deeper layers.

Although there is indeed spice, it’s not overpowering. Fans of really spicy scents may want to check out Loewe 7 Elixir, which I reviewed recently.

Heart Notes: Warm and Smoky

As the top notes mellow, the heart reveals cinnamon and frankincense. The cinnamon adds a sweet spiciness, while the frankincense introduces a smoky, resinous quality, enhancing the fragrance’s complexity and depth.

It’s cosy and compelling—a scent that feels both intimate and self-assured. Those of you who enjoy spicy and leathery accords will value this combination, as it adds richness and lasting presence to the fragrance.

Base Notes: Rich and Masculine

The base is anchored by black leather and tobacco accords, providing a dark, masculine foundation. The leather note is smooth and refined, complemented by the rich, slightly sweet nuances of tobacco, resulting in a scent that is easy to wear.

If, like me, you’re drawn to fragrances with a masculine edge, the leather and tobacco base offers the perfect anchor, leaving a lasting impression of warmth and refinement.

Performance

Spicebomb Dark Leather is an Eau de Parfum, offering pretty decent longevity for the price (lasting 7+ hours) with 2-3 feet of projection, making it a no-brainer choice for evening wear.

Seasons To Wear

This fragrance is particularly well-suited for the chilly months of autumn, winter, and early spring where its warm and spicy profile can be fully appreciated.

For me, it’s ideal for evening events or intimate gatherings, exuding a sense of gentlemanly style.

My Final Verdict

Overall, Spicebomb Dark Leather is a sophisticated and stylish addition to Viktor & Rolf’s lineup, with that appealing blend of spice, leather, and tobacco working hard to get you noticed.

Its balanced composition and moderate performance make it a worthy consideration for anyone seeking a refined, masculine scent for the colder seasons.

Too much leather? In my opinion, it’s masculine and well-blended; sure, it’s rich and leathery, but with discreet spice to add something interesting. Give it a try in-store, and see if Spicebomb Dark Leather scratches that itch.
