Joop! Homme Eau de Toilette is an undeniably masculine cologne with an ultra-sweet and spicy persona. Launched in 1989, the perfumer behind this 90s style scent is Michel Almairac.

This scent opens with bright citrus and fragrant orange blossom that soon bleeds into a heart of sweet cinnamon and the powdery/almond floral note of heliotrope. Sweet jasmine also mantes an appearance, dusted with cardamom.

Upon dry-down, sweet vanilla soon becomes most dominant, with touches of tonka bean and warm woods. Finally settles into a warm and spicy vanilla scent with powdery edges.

Joop! Homme is undoubtedly an evening fragrance that is best suited for autumn/winter. It’s ideal for both casual and more formal wear, so versatile for most occasions.

This is an almost beast-mode fragrance, so handle with care. Sillage and projection are enormous, and longevity is 5+ hours. Almost nuclear initially but does settle down after an hour or so.

Simply presented in an elegant, clear-glass bottle with JOOP! Homme emblazoned on the front. I love the way the juice inside is screaming pinky/red.

Overall, Joop! Homme Eau de Toilette is a bittersweet male fragrance that, although heavy on the vanilla, is no crowd-pleaser or blind-buy. The heliotrope and cinnamon are a frontal assault on the senses, so try-before-you-buy. I see this as a good thing!

Review

Released in 2021, Joop! Homme Eau de Parfum is a crowd-pleasing cocktail of spice and wood and that settles into a smooth vanilla base.

Opening notes of hazelnut and cinnamon are balanced by a sharp jolt of bergamot. The heart of this fragrance reveals bright orange blossom supported by heliotrope, cardamom and fir needles.

Upon dry-down, vanilla creeps in nicely and is soon joined by sandalwood and cashmeran. Hints of moss and vetiver come and go but never dominate. Settles to a combo of vanilla and wood with spicy edges.

This scent is perfect for late afternoon and evening wear during the autumn/winter months.

Performance is also excellent. Sillage and projection provide a 2-3 ft bubble. Longevity is 7+ hours.

Overall, Joop! Homme Eau de Parfum is a well-balanced confident cold-weather male fragrance with manly florals thrown in for good measure. Classy.

Released in 2019, Joop! Homme Absolute Eau de Parfum is a decadently spicy male fragrance that oozes effortless confidence. The perfumer behind this classy masculine fragrance is Antoine Maisondieu.

This fragrance opens with exotic ylang-ylang dusted with cracked black pepper and presented in a cloud of decadent, smokey incense.

Upon dry-down, the vanilla vibe of tonka bean soon reveals itself and is supported by grassy/woody vetiver. The smoke and pepper get more intense as the hours’ progress. 

Joop! Homme Absolute is a moody autumn/winter fragrance that leans towards evening wear. This scent smells classy, so ideal for eating out, date night, bars and clubs. This is not an office fragrance, in my humble opinion.

The performance of this fragrance, especially in cold weather, is excellent. Longevity is 7+ hours with reasonable sillage and projection.

The presentation is top-notch. The thick-glass bottle is weighty and finished with JOOP! Homme Absolute in eye-catching yellow text. The matching oversized black cap completed the look.

Overall, Joop! Homme Absolute is a smokey combination of vanilla, pepper, and ylang-ylang. It is dark, mysterious and far better than I expected. Recommended.

Joop! Jump Eau de Toilette is a shower-fresh combination of citrus, herbs and floral notes with a cheeky vanilla twist. Launched in 2005, perfumer Sophie Labbe has created an easygoing masculine fresh scent.

This fragrance opens with a blast of sharp grapefruit supported by rosemary and the star anise scent of caraway. The heart sees heliotrope move into full bloom and projects its powdery marzipan floral persona.

Upon dry-down, sweet tonka bean is most noticeable, casting its crowd-pleasing vanilla magic. It is further bolstered by musk and vetiver. Settles into a fresh yet soft and powdery heliotrope/vanilla combo with zesty edges.

This is a warm-season fragrance that is an edgy choice for spring and summer. Its bright personality is best suited for smart/casual daywear. Also makes a discreet office fragrance.

Performance of Joop! Jump was better than I expected from a ‘freshie’. This fragrance lasted 5+ hours before becoming a skin scent. Sillage and projection are moderate. It smells fantastic, but not a blind buy.

The bottle is tall and straight lines with slightly broader shoulders than the base. The pale blue glass emits a real summer vibe and is set off nicely by the silver cap.

Overall, Joop! Jump Eau de Toilette is a summertime male fragrance that begins with an ultra-sharp grapefruit kick that dries down into a refreshing powdery vanilla scent. An excellent any-occasion fragrance.

Joop! Go Eau de Toilette is an energising combination of sweet, sour and spice that is fresh and youthful. Released in 2006, the perfumer behind this spicy ‘freshie’ is Sophie Labbe.

The opening is impressive, with bittersweet orange, sour rhubarb and a touch of spice from Pimento peppers. A floral heart unveils powdery violet, earthy geranium and forest-fresh cypress. 

Upon dry-down, fir continues the forest-fresh feel, and light musk is discreetly present. Settles into a fresh orange/rhubarb combo with spice and powdery edges.

This is a fresh daytime spring/summer/autumn fragrance that is suitable for most occasions. Think, post-gym, running errands, shopping, lunches. It is also office safe. 

The sample I tried lasted 4+ hours with moderate-to-fair sillage/projection before fading into a skin-scent. This performance is more than acceptable, considering the price.

Presented in a tall, clear glass bottle with a fancy brushed-metal cap. The juice inside is eye-catching lime green.

Overall, Joop! Go is a masculine fresh summer fragrance with a cheeky bite of spice. Does not last super long, but it’s youthful, easy to wear, and nicely done.

Joop! WOW! Eau de Toilette is a sophisticated blend of wood, spices and powdery notes that smells expensive and classy. Released in 2017, the perfumer responsible for this aromatic evening fragrance is Christophe Raynaud.

The opening is spicy/sweet, with cardamom-coated vanilla noticeable right from the start. Violet leaf and bergamot also creep in. A heart of balsam fir adds its pine freshness, with vetiver and geranium hovering around the sidelines.

Dry-down unleashes the almondy/vanilla scent of tonka bean and cashmere wood which works really well with the fir’s freshness and spicy cardamom. Also has a slight boozy aroma to it. 

Joop! WOW! is quite a versatile fragrance that can be worn in autumn/winter/spring. It’s a bit too woody/spicy for full-on summer wear. Leans more towards smart/casual evening wear.

Longevity is 4+ hours before becoming a skin scent, lasts longer on clothing. Sillage and projection are moderate.

Presented in a curved shouldered bottle with a black cap and white label with the fragrance’s amber glow. Looks almost like a bottle of whiskey!

Overall, Joop! WOW! Eau de Toilette is a quality smelling male fragrance that is ideal for evening wear. An excellent combination of fresh, spicy and sweet that will get compliments.

7. Joop! WOW! Intense Eau de Parfum

Review

Released in 2019, Joop! WOW! Intense Eau de Parfum removes some of the original’s freshness and cranks up the powdery iris and nutty notes. The result is a true night-owl fragrance.

This fragrance opens with bitter orange, spiced cinnamon and soon reveals a distinct nutty note. A heart of powdery iris provides some welcome lift and is supported by the light woody note of vetiver.

Dry-down introduces woody-musky cashmeran and a subtle hint of tonka bean. Once settled, it remains a nutty/woody scent with bitter zest and a powdery edge.

Joop! WOW! Intense is an evening fragrance for the autumn/winter. It’s ideas as a date fragrance, dining out, visiting the theatre, cinema trips, etc. Not a full-on clubbing cologne, in my personal opinion. 

Performance is 5+ hour with more intimate sillage and projection than I expected for the list of notes. Still, it’s good value and well worth checking out.

Presented in the same curved shouldered bottle as the original. This intense version has an almost shiny bronze colour and is completed with a black label and matching black cap. 

Overall, Joop! WOW! Intense is an unusual spicy/nutty/woody fragrance with hints of cinnamon coated citrus. One to wear for the autumn/winter when you fancy something a bit different. Has a bit of a festive winter holiday vibe going on.

Review

If like me, you are expecting Joop! Homme Ice Eau de Toilette to be ultra-fresh, think again. Launched in 2020, this fragrance adds sweet fruit, spices and tobacco with fresh citrus for a well-balanced contemporary masculine scent.

The fresh and fruity opening of sweet, rich plum drenched in zesty bergamot and grapefruit is a real confidence booster. A sexy trio of orange blossom, cardamom and tobacco give a warm, spicy middle. 

Upon dry-down, rich, almost balsamic sandalwood provides comforting support but thankfully never overpowers the sweet plum. Settles to a manly sweet fruit/sharp citrus combo.

Joop! Homme Ice is perhaps more of a daytime fragrance, and in my opinion, ideal for any season. I can see myself wearing this to pretty much any occasion, from casually nipping to the shops to attending a wedding and everything in between.

You can expect decent longevity of 6+ hours with good sillage and projection. I must admit I was not expecting that kind of performance when I saw the word ‘ice’ written on the bottle.

The bottle is weighty, classic looking and understated, with clean lines and a very light blue hue. The oversized cap is shiny black and matched the JOOP! lettering on the front.

Overall, Joop! Homme Ice is a versatile everyday fragrance that gives a real positive vibe. Extremely likeable and will no doubt get lots of compliments as it smells great. A solid release from Joop!

Review

Released in 2012, Joop! Homme Wild Eau de Toilette is a confidence-boosting fusion of rum, wood, spice and tobacco that receives compliments galore. Alienor Massenet is the nose behind Joop! Homme Wild, and also responsible for the manly rum masterpiece, Jazz Club, that she created for Maison Martin Margiela.

This fragrance opens with spicy pink peppercorns soaked in a heart of rum that gives a dark edge. I even get hints of sweet coconut, but it’s not listed in the notes.

Upon dry-down, lush tobacco leaf and woody notes join forces to ensure an incredible finale. Once settled, this fragrance is a booze-fuelled combination of pepper, tobacco and wood. 

Joop! Homme Wild is an autumn/winter/spring fragrance that should be reserved for evening wear. This is just the type of scent to wear for an all-nighter when you want to hit the bars and clubs with no idea where the night will take you.

I managed 7+ hours of longevity with good sillage and projection for most of that time. Performs even better in really cold weather. Could still smell this beauty on my clothes the next morning.

Personally, I feel that the presentation does not really do this fragrance justice. The juice inside is far more mature and confident than the almost joke-like purple bottle with a smiling skull on the front.

Overall, although not a complete clone, Joop! Homme Wild does not stray too far from sophisticated classics such as Jazz Club and Tobacco Vanille. If you are on the lookout for a crowd-pleasing boozy scent with touches of tobacco and wood, this fragrance offers unbeatable value.

Joop! Homme Sport Eau de Toilette is a minty-fresh marine fragrance that many Joop! fans say is similar to Jean Paul Gaultier’s Le Male. Released in 2016, the perfumer responsible for this ‘freshie’ is Antoine Lie.

This fragrance opens with a burst of zesty bergamot and fresh mint with nice ginger touches that add spice. Mid notes amp up the freshness further, with salty marine notes complementing the fresh mint and citrus. Orange blossom also makes a welcome appearance.

Upon dry-down, creamy tonka bean provides a vanilla/almond base that ensures a smooth foundation. Settles to a fresh minty/citrus male fragrance with salty marine notes and a touch of vanilla.

As for when to wear, in my opinion, this is a spring/summer daytime fragrance. Great for almost any occasion from weddings, lunches, shopping trips, city breaks and even post-exercise.

The longevity of Joop! Homme Sport is a surprising 6+ hours. After that, it hovers close to the skin. Although the sillage and projection are not enormous, this fragrance will undoubtedly get you noticed for all the right reasons.

Presented in an eye-catching bottle that moves from bright pink to pale blue. The striking text on the bottle’s front makes it very clear that this is a sport edition.

Overall, Joop! Homme Sport is a fresh masculine fragrance with a well-balanced combination of mint, citrus, and marine notes, with cheeky hints of ginger, tonka bean and leather. Not a complete clone of Jean Paul Gaultier’s Le Male, but it does share many similarities.
