When the sun is shining, tennis is in full swing, and the smell of neatly cut grass hangs in the air, the best Lacoste fragrances for men come into their own. Their blend of bright citrus notes fused with delights such as sharp rhubarb, green notes, and herbs are perfect for spring and summer daywear.

The Lacoste luxury brand was founded in 1933 by French tennis player René Lacoste. The now-iconic Lacoste snapping logo was born from the players’ nickname, ‘the crocodile’. This was due to the way he devoured his opponents with a grin, winning him seven Grand Slam singles in total.

Initially selling the same style tennis shirt that he wore on-court (complete with crocodile logo), further designer sportswear and accessories followed. Releasing their first fragrance Lacoste for Men, in 1984, the brand continues to produce fresh-smelling scents with a nod to the tennis scene.

Review Of 10 Lacoste Fragrances For Men

We’ve selected 10 of the best Lacoste fragrances for men that are attention-grabbing, utterly fresh, and perfect for warm-weather sports and casual wear.

1. Lacoste L.12.12 Blanc Eau de Toilette

Lacoste L.12.12 Blanc Eau de Toilette

Review

L.12.12 Blanc Eau de Toilette is an aromatic floral woody fragrance with an invigorating punch of citrus. Released in 2011, this scent is fresh, manly, and gives a real positive vibe.

This fragrance opens with refreshingly sharp grapefruit with added rosemary and cardamom to add a touch of bite. A floral heart of exotic ylang-ylang and the white-floral scent of tuberose blooms nicely but remain masculine.

Upon dry-down, luxurious suede is supported by grassy/woody vetiver and cedar. Rich leathery notes also kick in after an hour or so, but this fragrance remains a predominantly zesty/floral combo.

L.12.12 Blanc is a bright masculine fragrance for spring and summer that leans heavily towards daytime wear. This scent smells clean, fresh and expensive. Ideal for most daytime situations and is also office-friendly.

Longevity of this fragrance is 4+ hours with reasonable sillage and projection during that time. After that, it hovers just above the skin and remains clean and fresh. Lasts longer on clothing.

The presentation looks as clean as the fragrance inside. A white bottle and matching lid are discreet and really allow the classic Lacoste crocodile logo to shine.

Overall, L.12.12 Blanc is a fusion of bright citrus, exotic flowers, suede and wood. This is an easy-going shower-fresh male fragrance that is versatile and easy to wear—a future summer classic.

2. Lacoste L.12.12 Noir Eau de Toilette

Lacoste L.12.12 Noir Eau de Toilette

Review

Moving from white to black, L.12.12 Noir Eau de Toilette blends contrasting notes of sweet watermelon with dark chocolate and luxurious cashmeran. Released in 2013, Lacoste has blended an almost niche-like fragrance that seems more than the sum of its parts.

The gourmand opening of sweet melon is light, so a couple of extra sprays is recommended to fully enjoy. Heart notes reveal herbs and flowers, with basil, lavender and verbena, all duelling for your attention.

The dry-down is initially vanilla due to tonka bean, but dark notes of chocolate and cashmeran really lock horns. There is also a hint of patchouli that adds a touch of musk. Settles to a chocolate/melon due with touches of lavender and cashmeran.

L.12.12 Noir can be worn day or night during spring/summer, and even mild autumn is fair game. This is a casual fragrance that is easy to wear and does not overpower, so ideal for work, sports, running errands, etc.

Longevity is only 3+ hours with mild sillage and projection. I found you really need to overspray to experience the watermelon. After 30 minutes, the dark chocolate & cashmeran add depth, but it’s still relatively fresh.

The bottle is nicely presented in a shiny jet black with the same curved lines as the white version. The classic Lacoste crocodile motif stands out nicely.

Overall, L.12.12 Noir is more of a fresh gourmet fragrance with subtle dark undertones. The watermelon and chocolate combo shines during the hottest days of summer and remains masculine. This ‘Noir’ version is probably not as dark and moody as you would expect, but it’s a great scent.

3. Lacoste L.12.12 French Panache Pour Lui

Lacoste L.12.12 French Panache Pour Lui

Review

Launched in 2019, L.12.12 French Panache Pour Lui Eau de Toilette is a cheerful combination of lavender, citrus and spices that are well balanced. The perfumer behind this fragrance is Diesel Only The Brave Street creator, Nelly Hachem-Ruiz.

Sweet mandarin orange opens with fresh lemon zest and a sprinkling of spicy cardamom. These soon mellow to reveal a heart of blooming lavender and narcissus are supported by luscious crisp apple.

Upon dry-down, manly sandalwood and the earthy/musky note of patchouli in the base adds a little depth. Remains fresh but with an intriguing darker side.

L.12.12 French Panache Pour Lui is a cheerful and vibrant daytime fragrance that is well suited for the warming spring and summer months. Think lunches, shopping, cinema, theatre, post-gym. It’s even office safe.

I found that this fragrance lasts 3+ hours with moderate sillage and projection. Not ideal for all-day events without reapplication, but it certainly lasts long enough for when you are out and about.

Presented in an eye-catching version of the L.12.12 bottle. The matt navy blue works well with the red-ringed white cap. The Lacoste grinning crocodile completes the look.

Overall, L.12.12 French Panache Pour Lui is a crowd-pleasing everyday male fragrance that’s easy to wear and works for pretty much any occasion. Gets compliments galore, especially on hot summer days when its projection is boosted.

4. L’Homme Lacoste Eau de Toilette

L'Homme Lacoste Eau de Toilette

Review

L’Homme Lacoste Eau de Toilette is an energising combination of sweet, sour and spice that smells sophisticated and upmarket. Released in 2017, the perfumer behind this fruity/spicy male fragrance is Michel Girard.

The opening is vibrant, with bittersweet orange, sharp rhubarb and a touch of apple/pear from the quince note. A spicy heart reveals ginger and cracked black pepper soothed by a hint of almond.

Upon dry-down, vanilla is most noticeable and supported by light woods and musk that are discreetly present. Settles into a modern and fresh orange/rhubarb scent with spice and soft vanilla edges.

This is a spicy/fresh daytime fragrance suitable for most occasions in spring/summer and even creeping into autumn. This is ideal for pretty much any daytime event and is an office-friendly fragrance.

The sample I tried lasted 4+ hours with reasonable sillage and projection, especially the fresh rhubarb and ginger. Considering the low price you can pick this fragrance up for, this is a steal.

Presented in a clean-lined, clear glass bottle with a navy blue cap. The juice inside is an eye-catching light gold and looks expensive. The outer packaging is also well made and finished in navy blue and silver.

Overall, L’Homme Lacoste Eau de Toilette is a masculine fresh summer fragrance with a sexy duo of sharpness and spice. Not super long-lasting, but it smells expensive and is nicely blended.

5. L’Homme Lacoste Intense Eau de Toilette

L'Homme Lacoste Intense Eau de Toilette

Review

L’Homme Lacoste Intense Eau de Toilette retains much of the sweet, sour and spice of the original L’Homme Lacoste Eau de Toilette (reviewed above) but with an added punch. Released in 2018, perfumer Michel Girard has now injected extra intensity and performance with this moodier version.

The opening is just as vibrant as the original, with sweet orange, sour rhubarb and a soft fruity quince note. A spicier heart reveals its added intensity as the ginger and black pepper are noticeably stronger. Sweet jasmine and delicate almond also appear.

Upon dry-down, this intense version is woodier than the original. Spicy/earthy cypriol oil and woody nuances of vetiver and cedar add depth. Vanilla hovers around the edges with its sweetness. Retains its modern and fresh orange/rhubarb vibe but with added pepper, ginger and woods.

L’Homme Lacoste Intense is a spicy/fresh daytime fragrance for spring/summer and even creeping into autumn. This versatile scent is ideal for any occasion, including the office. Although this is ‘intense’, I personally feel it remains a daytime fragrance.

Longevity is 5+ hours with decent sillage and projection, so performance is a little better than the original version. As there is not much price between the original and the intense version, this version offers superior price/performance.

Presented in a clean-lined, dark matt blue bottle with a central ridged rectangle and matching blue cap. The outer packaging is also well made and finished in navy blue and silver. The Lacoste crocodile really stands out in silver!

Overall, L’Homme Lacoste Intense has the same fresh summer vibe as the original but cranks up the ginger, rhubarb and pepper. Still the same easy to wear fragrance but now with an added punch.

6. L’Homme Lacoste Timeless Eau de Toilette

L'Homme Lacoste Timeless Eau de Toilette

Review

L’Homme Lacoste Timeless Eau de Toilette is a warm and spicy blend of woods, spices, sharp fruits, plus black tea for added wow-factor. Released in 2019, the perfumer behind this oriental spicy masculine scent is Michel Girard.

As with most of the L’Homme Lacoste collection, the opening sharp rhubarb note is most dominant, yet this time black tea, cardamom, and bergamot really grab your attention.

Ginger plays a starring role in the heart of this scent, closely followed by pepper coated jasmine and only the merest hint of sweet almond.

The dry-down is a manly combination of musk, cedar and spiced dry amber. Vanilla does discreetly appear after 30 minutes but never dominates. Settles to a dark blend of black tea, wood and ginger lifted by rhubarb and jasmine.

L’Homme Lacoste Timeless is a warm and spicy any-season fragrance that is suitable for day or night. The woods and black tea make this a bit dressier than most of the other Lacoste fragrances I have tested. Ideal for fancy lunches, dates, theatre, bars and restaurants.

You can expect 4+ hours of performance before this fragrance becomes a skin scent. Sillage and projection are good, especially the wood/rhubarb/tea.

This fragrance is presented the same L’Homme Lacoste bottle design, but this time in smoked glass with grey edges. This is my favourite bottle of the collection L’Homme Lacoste collection as it just looks classy.

Overall, L’Homme Lacoste Timeless is a well balanced spicy/woody masculine fragrance with sharp fruity edges that ads lift. Ideal for any season and any occasion, this distinctive scent will get you noticed.

7. Lacoste Match Point Eau De Toilette

Lacoste Match Point Eau De Toilette

Review

Match Point Eau De Toilette is one of Lacoste’s more unusual men’s fragrance. This eclectic blend of spice, fresh, sweet, and bitter, all rolled into one, produces a confident smelling cologne with an almost vintage twist.

Vibrant grapefruit is liberally coated in pink pepper and basil for a refreshing introduction. A male floral heart is where the action is; Gentiana provides bitterness whilst geranium reveals its trademark potent green aroma.

Dry-down unleashes a wave or rich spicy/fruity/woody cashmeran and earthy/smokey vetiver. This fragrance needs time to settle, but it’s well worth the wait to experience this spicy/fresh male fragrance with bitter green edges.

Match Point is a feel-good spring/summer daytime fragrance that is ideal for sports, working out and casual wear.

The sillage and projection of Match Point are strong for the first 3 hours, then calms to moderate. Longevity is 5+ hours before becoming a pleasant skin scent, lasts longer on clothing.

The presentation is eye-catching, with a clear-cut clear glass bottle displays the pale green fragrance luting inside. The cap is fabulous, its a tennis racket grip. A discreet white label a the Lacoste logo completes the look.

Overall, Lacoste took a risk with Match Point, and it paid off. This is no generic crowd-pleasing spiced vanilla-bomb. It’s fresh, bitter, sweet and nicely spiced. Winner!

8. Lacoste Essential Eau de Toilette

Lacoste Essential Eau de Toilette

Review

Lacoste Essential Eau de Toilette is a zesty, spicy/green male scent with a freshly cut lawn summer feel. Launched in 2005, this fragrance remains a firm favourite among Lacoste fans.

The opening is fruity, with contrasting sweet tangerine and sharp bergamot. Blackcurrant leaves add a light herbal/musky greenness who many say smells like tomato leaves. Soft rose dusted in pepper forms the middle of this fragrance.

Upon dry-down, a patchouli and wood base is present but never manages to overtake the fresh zest and green notes, so this sent remains summer fresh.

As with most Lacoste fragrances, this is another feel-good warm weather scent great for spring/summer. Just the scent to wear for brunches, post-exercise, running errands, picnics and of course, watching tennis.

Performance on my skin was 4+ hours with solid projection and sillage for most of that time. Good performance for a sporty/fresh scent.

The fragrance is nicely presented in a non-symmetrical clear-glass bottle. The scent inside emits a light green hue. Completed with a sturdy silver cap.

Overall, Lacoste Essential is a refreshing duo of citrus and green notes with a musky/herb twist. It still smells modern, fresh and youthful. Reminded me of the Calvin Klein men’s fragrance collection.

9. Lacoste Live Eau de Toilette

Lacoste Live Eau de Toilette

Review

Released in 2014, Lacoste Live Eau de Toilette is an easy-going spicy/fresh green male fragrance. It has a liquorice note that ensures you stand out from the crowd. The nose responsible for this fragrance is perfumer Jean-Michel Duriez.

This fragrance has a fresh opening of juicy lime that is clean and zesty but not overly sharp. Mild spices also come into play. A green heart of birch leaves and aquatic notes continue the citrus/green vibe, with a hint of liquorice beginning to appear.

After drying down, the liquorice note leads the charge, with woody notes being noticeable yet mild. Settle to a liquorice focused green and fresh male fragrance.

Lacoste Live is a spring/summer freshie with a cheeky liquorice bubble that lingers nicely. I think this fragrance can pull off early autumn wear too. It’s an easy-going daytime fragrance for work or casual wear.

You can expect 3+ hours of longevity before it becomes a skin scent. Sillage and projection during that time are pretty good. I found it lasts far better on clothing; just watch out for staining.

The bottle is cool! Presented in a blue glass cube with red and white panels, completed with a white cap.

Overall, Lacoste Live is an unusual addition to the collection. The blend of green, spices and liquorice are quite different from most fair-weather fragrances. Smells a bit young on me personally, but it would certainly suit the 20 something crowd.

10. Lacoste Booster Eau de Toilette

Lacoste Booster Eau de Toilette

Review

And lastly, we have Booster Eau de Toilette. Launched back in 1996, this ultra-fresh smelling men’s fragrance combines eucalyptus, mint and citrus to create a real wow-factor.

If you are looking for an uplifting minty fresh male scent that’s perfect for hot weather, this 90s classic is well worth checking out.

Booster Eau de Toilette opens with fresh peppermint and vibrant eucalyptus bathed in sweet orange and sharp grapefruit. Basil and chilli in the heart add masculine bite, whilst lavender brings summertime cheer.

Upon dry-down, woody notes of vetiver, sandalwood, and cedar add a layer of softness and sophistication. This fragrance remains minty fresh, and zesty throughout with woody hints.

This is a spring/summer daytime fragrance. Its bright, fresh minty personality works well for most casual occasions, the gym and playing sports.

As you would expect from such a ‘freshie’ performance is not staggering. I managed to enjoy this scent for 3+ hours before it hovered just above the skin. Sillage and projection were really good for the first 2 hours.

The presentation is quirky. To me, it looks like the pressurised container I use in the garden to spray weed killer. Thankfully the fragrance inside smalls far nicer than ‘Path Clear’!

Booster Eau de Toilette is quite simply freshness in a bottle. This fragrance still smells modern and youthful over 25 years since its launch. The mint, eucalyptus, and citrus really shine together.
