Launched in 2010, Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle was blended by the inimitable Dominique Ropion. Intended to evoke the spirit of the novel’s heroine, Isabel Archer, Portrait of a Lady is an intense and complex blend of spice, musk, and floral scents with light, fruity notes to save it from becoming too heavy.
With a modern twist on classically sensual ingredients, Portrait of a Lady is a perfect perfume for autumn/winter weddings, when the cold can overpower lighter scents. The warm, heavy scents used to give this perfume a strong base also help it to last for hours.

9. F****** Fabulous by Tom Ford
Review
This is one of Tom Fords flagship fragrances and is extremely high on the compliment scale. Although the name may put you off (or not!), this is a surprisingly rich, smooth and uplifting fragrance delivering a rather decadent vibe. When we first encountered it in Harrods we both looked at each other and said “wow!”
This is perhaps one for your wedding evening when all the formalities are over, and you can finally settle down and enjoy the party.
With a name that incorporates a somewhat bold statement, it’s no surprise that this fragrance opens with an energetic punch of both sage and lavender. These settle after 10 minutes or so, to allow the deeper notes of bitter almond, vanilla, tonka and leather in particular to mingle slowly and ultimately rise to the surface.
This is a long lasting fragrance of 5+ hours on skin and even longer on clothes.
A bottle with the standard Tom Ford clean lines and squat design. Be aware that the actual bottle does clearly display the F-word, so if young eyes are present you may need to pop it in a drawer.
Top Notes:
Sage, Lavender
Mid Notes:
Bitter Almond, Vanilla, Orris
Base Notes:
Tonka Bean, Leather, Amber

Joy Intense captures the feeling of happiness in a bottle so this is perfect for your special day. A beautiful combination of citrus scents and woody musks makes this a cheerful fragrance which is as charming as it is alluring.
The mixture of different fragrances is rich and complicated, but they work together to create an overall sense of lightness and energy which lasts all day.
Although rich with woody musks, the freshness of Joy Intense means it is also suitable as a day perfume and would be perfect for not only your wedding breakfast, but the evening too.
The bottle is simple yet classic with its delicate pink colour and smooth roundness that suggests peace and feminine delight. Its bejewelled cap suggests a touch of elegance and classic wealth which gives it a certain allure.

Conclusion
The best perfume to wear on your wedding day should be a scent that feels special to you. Fragrance is such a personal journey as what feels right for one person may not suit another.
My main piece of advice is when you discover your perfect wedding fragrance, wear it for at least a few weeks prior to your big day.
This has two main benefits. Firstly you get to ensure you are happy with the fragrance. Secondly, as the big day moves nearer you will associate that fragrance with excitement and anticipation of the build up (course the big day itself!) for years to come.
