With exotic woods, rich spices, and lush fruits, the best Creed fragrances for men ooze class and sophistication. Here are 10 luxurious Creed scents for your consideration.

1. CREED Aventus Eau de Parfum

Creed Aventus Eau de Parfum

Review

Aventus Eau De Parfum is a bold and provocative masculine Creed cologne that exudes confidence. This individual scent was launched in 2010 to celebrate the House of Creed’s 250th anniversary. The duo of noses behind this fragrance is Olivier and Erwin Creed.

This scent opens brightly, with juicy blackcurrant, sweet pineapple and a cheeky splash of citrus. A heart of fresh birch provides a light woody note that really compliments the delightful pineapple opening.

Upon dry-down, an exotic layer of musk enriched with oakmoss and salty ambergris. Hints of patchouli also emerge with soft florals.

Aventus is a compliment generating spring/summer casual fragrance that is great for daywear. Perfect to use when running errands, post-exercise, chilled lunches, and simply out-and-about.

As you would expect from such a high-class fragrance house, performance is pretty good. You can expect 6-7 hours of longevity with decent sillage and projection.

This may be an expensive fragrance, but it’s the price of an expensive shirt, and you will get far more enjoyment from a bottle of this beauty.

Overall, Creed Aventus is a masterclass of how a casual yet sophisticated masculine fragrance should be formulated. It’s an addictive mix of tropical fruit, berries, wood and musk that may not seem overly masculine, but when combined, you have something exceptional.

Quite a few Aventus clones to discover for those with a limited fragrance budget

2. CREED Royal Oud Eau de Parfum

Creed Royal Oud Eau de Parfum

Review

Royal Oud Eau de Parfum is arguably the classiest men’s fragrance of all time. Released in 2011, the nose behind this captivating oriental woody fragrance is Oliver Creed.

The striking opening begins with a zesty duo of bergamot and lemon generously sprinkled with pink pepper. A heart of cedar releases a waft of pencil shavings entwined with bitter green galbanum and the muskiness of angelica.

The dominant pink pepper is joined by creamy sandalwood and incredibly expensive smelling oud that oozes masculine class upon dry-down.

I would say Royal Oud is best worn during autumn/winter and perhaps creeping into spring. Although fine to be worn as a casual fragrance, I feel it leans more towards being a formal evening scent that is certainly worth getting dressed up for.

Performance is good, and you can expect 7-8 hours before this fragrance mellows into a skin scent. Projection and sillage are moderate. This is not a generic crowd-pleasing beast-mode clubbing frag, no Sir, Royal Oud takes you to a whole different universe.

Overall, Creed Royal Oud is a refined gentleman’s fragrance that smells incredibly expensive. The richness of the decadent woody notes is further enhanced by pink pepper and a sexy bitter-green kick.

3. CREED Green Irish Tweed Eau de Parfum

Creed Green Irish Tweed Eau de Parfum
Credit: Creed

Review

Originally a bespoke fragrance for film star Cary Grant, Green Irish Tweed Eau de Parfum is a fresh-smelling green cologne with a bright citrus twist. Released to the public in 1985, the nose behind this scent is Oliver Creed.

Although this fragrance has endured several reformulations over the years, the 2021 sample we tested loses not of the lush green countryside notes of the Emerald Isle that it emulates.

Opening notes are fresh and minty, with Indian verbena and zesty lemon creating a manly grassy citrus feel. A floral heart of iris and violet introduce a powdery, almost soapy profile. Upon dry-down, smooth sandalwood and the salty freshness of ambergris bring out the best of this fresh masculine scent.

As for when to wear, Green Irish Tweed is a classic smelling daytime scent. Perfect for bright spring/summer days when you want to smell clean and fresh, yet stand out from the crowd. It is very versatile and can be worn in any situation. It will even make a great office fragrance if you have the budget.

This is a fresh-smelling scent, so performance is reasonably good considering. I managed 5+ hours of longevity before it becomes close to the skin. The sillage and projection are both moderate but undoubtedly present.

The 100ml bottle is dark, manly and looks incredibly classy. It is weighty and feels good in your hand. The 250ml bottle, in contrast, looks more regal and historic.

Need a high-quality masculine fragrance that is modern, fresh and yet somehow utterly timeless? Creed Green Irish Tweed is the ultimate purchase.

4. CREED Viking Eau de Parfum

Creed Viking Eau de Parfum

Review

Viking Eau de Parfum is a modern woody aromatic masculine fragrance that was released in 2017. Not for the faint-hearted, this manly combination of citrus, pepper and woody notes will supercharge your day, shouting the Viking battle cry “Tyr!” from the rooftops.

Opening with zesty Calabrian bergamot and bright Sicilian lemon, Viking Eau de Parfum is lively right from the go. A striking heart of peppermint saturated in pink and black peppercorns cranks the wow-factor dial up to 11. Upon dry-down, sandalwood, vetiver and lavender provide depth and a touch of richness.

With moderate-to-strong sillage and projection combined with 6+ hours of longevity are pretty good for such a fresh/spicy scent. It’s the pepper and woody notes that keep Viking performing so well.

I would recommend this fragrance as a daytime scent for spring and autumn. Its possibly too spicy for full-on summer heat and not quite heavyweight enough for winter use. Perfect for casual days out.

The 100ml bottle is extremely eye-catching with its bright red colour. The silver cap with red Creed crested logo is a classy touch.

Overall, Creed Viking is a unique every-day masculine fragrance that really puts a spicy spring in your step. Will undoubtedly get you noticed, especially after revealing its peppery/woody side.

5. CREED Silver Mountain Water Eau de Parfum

Creed Silver Mountain Water Eau de Parfum
Credit: Creed

Review

Silver Mountain Water Eau de Parfum is an exhilaratingly, almost gourmand, green/fruity/zesty cologne. Launched in 1995 (we tested in-store in early 2021), the perfumer behind this fragrance is Oliver Creed.

Opening with a discreet blend of bergamot, orange and neroli, Mountain Water is bright and refreshing. Luscious green tea and blackcurrant in the heart soon become the main focal point of this scent.

Upon dry down, a fantastic musky base adds a welcome layer of mystery. Hints of sandalwood, petitgrain and galbanum dance in and out once fully dry.

For me, Silver Mountain Water is best suited for spring/summer, day or evening wear. The green tea and blackcurrant combo are deliciously freshened with bergamot. The musk carries this fragrance well into the evening.

Performance is reasonable for a freshie. You can expect 4+ hours of longevity with moderate sillage and projection. Try spraying clothing (just watch for staining) and it will last longer.

The white-glass 100ml bottle has curved shoulders and is completed with a silver cap with a silver Creed crest logo on the top.

Overall, Creed Silver Mountain Water is a deliciously fresh feel-good fragrance perfect for day or evening. Although performance is not stellar, you can smell the quality of this delightfully crisp scent.

6. CREED Bois du Portugal Eau de Parfum

Creed Bois du Portugal Eau de Parfum
Credit: Creed

Review

Bois du Portugal Eau de Parfum is a rich woody aromatic fragrance that captures the lush Portuguese highlands. Extremely versatile, this classic gentlemen’s scent was launched in 1987 and has remained a firm Creed favourite.

The opening is bright, with vibrantly zesty bergamot leading the charge. A heart of fragrant lavender blooms stunningly to add cheer to the initial citrus blast.

Upon dry-down, cedar and sandalwood jostle for your attention, with hints of vetiver and ambergris that rise after an hour or two. This settles into a manly woody/lavender scent.

For me, Bois du Portugal feels like an any-season daytime fragrance that is bright and cheerful but has woody depths. It’s a casual everyday fragrance that is office-safe.

You can expect 6+ hours of performance with good sillage and projection. The lavender lasts really well, as do the woody notes.

The 100ml bottle is classy and eye-catching with its curved shoulders and black cap. The Creed crest on top of the stopper in gold is a nice touch.

Overall, Creed Bois du Portugal is an any-season fragrance that projects masculine elegance. The bright lavender mixed with sandalwood and citrus produces a feel-good scent.

7. CREED Original Vetiver Eau de Parfum

Creed Original Vetiver Eau de Parfum
Credit: Creed

Review

Original Vetiver Eau de Parfum is a highly wearable combination of citrus, vetiver and ginger. This stunning vetiver interpretation uses both the plant’s root and leaves for a less dry experience. Olivier and Erwin Creed are the noses behind this fragrance that was launched in 2004.

This fragrance opens with zesty bergamot and juicy mandarin nicely spiced with freshly cut ginger. A spicy heart introduces pink and white peppercorns brightened with lemony coriander to provide lift.

Upon dry-down, smoky/grassy vetiver soon becomes the star of the show, with citrus ensuring it’s not overly dry but actually greener. Musk and sandalwood introduce more masculine tones, with a nip of slightly salty ambergris for freshness.

Original vetiver is citrus-fresh, grassy and slightly creamy male fragrance with a green twang. It is perfectly suited for spring/summer and perhaps creeping into early autumn. Not a full-on nighttime fragrance, but an excellent choice for smart/casual daywear and early evening.

The longevity of this fragrance is excellent, especially the vetiver. I found it lasted 6+ hours on my skin and gave decent sillage/projection, especially for the first 3 hours.

The presentation of the 100ml bottle is classy and refined. The base of the bottle is a deeper green that fades out as it rises upwards. The curved shoulders and black cap are unquestionably eye-catching.

Overall, Creed Original Vetiver is an exciting interpretation of a vetiver centred fragrance. It is ultra-smooth, citrus-fresh, yet has a slight creaminess and a subtle ginger kick. Its the most refined freshie you are likely to encounter.

8. CREED Erolfa Eau de Parfum

Creed Erolfa Eau de Parfum
Credit: Creed

Review

Erolfa Eau de Parfum is an aromatic, zesty/marine fragrance inspired by the Mediterranean ocean. It’s hard to believe this incredibly well-balanced and fresh scent was released back in 1992. Clearly, ahead of its time, it is both modern and classic in its delivery.

This scent opens with a fairly sharp bergamot & lime combo balanced by exotically sweet melon sprinkled with herbs. A spicy heart of ginger, black pepper and coriander are brightened with a hint of jasmine. Still, this fragrance loses non of its initial fresh opening.

Upon dry-down, the light musky/woody base absorbs some of the salty ambergris. The whole fragrance settles into a salty/woodsy scent with a green-citrus vibe.

As for when to wear, Erolfa bellows hot summer days from the rooftops. Personally, it’s an oceanic freshie that is best suited for sunny days by the beach, or even better, sitting outside a bar in the shade with a cheeky G&T. Now we are talking!

The performance was far better than I expected at 6+ hours before it faced to a skin scent. Sillage and projection are excellent for at least the first 2-3 hours; a discreet top-up is recommended but not essential.

Presented in a quality clear-glass bottle with the Creed almost iconic sloping shoulders sporting a blue label and gold cap. Looks every bit the holiday fragrance that it is.

Overall, as a decadent marine fragrance that gets its fair share of complimentsCreed Erolfa truly delivers. It’s more than just a standard marine freshie, its modern, classy, and well-rounded. The trio of citrus, melon and ambergris is pure genius.

9. CREED Spice and Wood Eau de Parfum

Creed Spice and Wood Eau de Parfum
Credit: Creed

Review

Spice & Wood Eau de Parfum is a decadent combination of sensual woods and warm spices with fruity hints. Launched in 2010, Spice & Wood is part of the Creed ‘Royal Exclusives’ line of fragrances.

This scent begins with fresh lemon, juicy bergamot and fragrant apple wonderfully spiced with cloves. A heart of clean woody birch is liberally dusted with pink pepper and a cheeky hint of bitter angelica.

Upon dry-down, deep cedar, exotic musk and oakmoss add their alluring magic with a powdery iris note dancing in and out. Very classy and discreetly refined.

This is pretty much an any-season fragrance aside from the hottest part of the summer. It smells formal, so one to save for a special occasion when you want to smell understated yet elegant.

Although this fragrance smells utterly amazing, the performance is poor, considering the high price tag. The sample I sprayed (in-store at Harrods Dec 2020) became a skin scent after 3 hours. Fine if money is no object but shows that expensive does not always mean long-lasting.

Being part of the Exclusives line of fragrances, the 75ml version is presented in a regal looking clear-glass bottle with the gold greed logo repeated all over. Finished off nicely with a gold cap with the Creed crest on the top.

Overall, Creed Spice & Wood is a well balanced, sophisticated, woody/spicy masculine fragrance. I just love the bitter angelic note that fades in and out. Creed needs to work on the performance.

10. CREED Tabarome Eau de Parfum

Creed Tabarome Eau de Parfum
Credit: Creed

Review

The story has it that this was originally a bespoke fragrance made for Winston Churchill. Tabarome Millésime Eau de Parfum is a striking combination of tobacco, ginger, and woody notes that demand attention.

Released to the public in 2000, surely every man secretly wants to smell like the heroic British Bulldog?

The opening is fresher than I expected. Orange, lemon and bergamot all jostle for your attention, with only the merest hint of emerging spice. Fresh spicy ginger soon becomes the most dominant note, closely followed by a luxurious dose of sandalwood.

Upon dry-down, a cloud of rich smelling pipe tobacco wafts in to give a true British gentleman’s club feel. Musk, black tea, and leather add polish and refinement.

With its rich combination of tobacco, ginger and sandalwood, I feel Tabarome Millésime leans more towards being a later afternoon/evening autumn/winter scent. It smells dressy and confident.

No complaints about performance, with 4 sprays Tabarome Millésime lasted 6+ hours before settling into a discreet but present skin scent. Sillage and projection are moderate.

The 100ml bottle with its sloping shoulders and a luxurious silver cap is eye-catching. The brown label gives a clue to the lush tobacco notes lurking inside.

Overall, Creed Tabarome Millésime is the mark of a gentleman with style, class and confidence. Warm woody notes are spiced with ginger then immersed in a cloud of rich pipe tobacco.

The best smelling Creed Men’s fragrance has to be Royal Oud Eau de Parfum. Zesty bergamot and lemon are sprinkled with pink pepper, balanced by cedar, galbanum and musky angelica. Rich oud and soft sandalwood provide a jaw-dropping finale. Longevity is 7-8 hours.

A History Of Creed Fragrance

CREED Logo

The House of Creed has meticulously crafted fine fragrances for dignitaries, royalty and the discerning for over 260 years. James Henry Creed originally founded the brand in 1760. He started as a tailor, making scented leather gloves and other fine clothing in London’s Conduit Street.

After Creed presented a pair of scented riding gloves to King George III, the King requested Creed to make him a bespoke personal scent. In 1781 Creed Royal English Leather was commissioned.

The royal connection does not finish there. The granddaughter of King George III, Queen Victoria, appointed Creed as her official fragrance supplier.

In 1854, when Napoleon III and his Empress, Eugénie, commissioned Creed to create a spectacular fragrance, Creed moved its headquarters to Paris, where it remains to this day.

Fast-forwarding to more recent times, Creed has composed fragrances for many iconic screen icons. Spring Flower for Audrey Hepburn, Fleurissimo for Grace Kelly, and Green Irish Tweed for Cary Grant.

Conclusion

Let’s face it, the House of Creed has created a formidable legacy that is the envy of fragrance houses worldwide. From humble beginnings, Creed fragrance know-how has been passed down from father to son for seven generations.

The best Creed fragrances for men are incredibly complex, rich, and tantalisingly extravagant. Although each scent is unique, they all share the same heritage that links them back to a perfumery of unparalleled excellence.

Considering that Creed has crafted some of the most desirable fragrances enjoyed by Hollywood A-listers and royalty alike, perhaps it’s time you dived in?
