One of my personal favourite fragrance houses is that of Byredo. Their perfumes are alluring, captivating and absolutely beautiful while also being produced using only the finest ingredients.

Here in this review, I will guide you on a journey through my selection of the Byredo fragrances. We will begin with a short trip back in time to the establishment of this renowned fragrance house along with a brief overview of its founder. After that, I will give you my take on the 12 best Byredo perfumes and help you with deciding which of these lovely scents you should add to your fragrance collection.

Background of Byredo

Byredo is a Swedish fashion house that was founded by Ben Gorham in 2006 and is known globally for its luxurious fragrances and leather goods. Although Ben’s birthplace was Sweden, he grew up between New York, Toronto, and Stockholm, allowing him to gain exposure to various cultures and fashion scenes.

However, unlike most founders of international fragrance houses, Ben actually studied art before being inspired by famed perfumer Pierre Wulff. He subsequently began his pursuit of a career in the art of aromatic expression.

Through keen use of his artistic and creative abilities, Gorham collaborated with two experienced perfumers to launch the Byredo fragrance house. With Ben communicating his visions of what he desired in his perfumes, the group collaborated to introduce one of the most renowned fragrance collections the luxury world has ever seen.

12 Byredo Perfumes Reviewed

Byredo perfumes are pure expressions of an artist’s emotions that have been carefully translated into some of the most sophisticated aromas available. Of the many fragrances in their collection, here are the 12 that I feel are simply the best Byredo perfumes available today.

1. Byredo Rose Noir Eau de Parfum

Byredo Rose Noir Eau de Parfum

Review

Rose Noir Eau de Parfum was introduced by Byredo in 2008 as a floral woody musk perfume with unisex appeal. The usual brightness of rose is whisked into the dark side with additions of musk and other steamier aromas.

The scent opens with bright citrus and a welcome bouquet of rose. It is fresh, yet warming once the fragrance settles it’s rounded out by a woody, earthy base.

Oddly I felt this perfume is best worn in the daytime rather than night, perhaps due to the sparkling citrus top notes. Certainly one for the cooler months of spring and autumn due to the combination of rose and musk.

I found the longevity of this fragrance is long-lasting, 5+ hours on my skin and longer on clothing.

The bottle design is a simple glass cylinder with a black, cone-shaped top.

2. Byredo Slow Dance Eau de Parfum

Byredo Slow Dance Eau de Parfum

Review

The inspiration for Slow Dance Eau de Parfum is the transitional stage into full-blown adulthood. It is a sensual and intimate fragrance.

With dominant notes of sweet/warming opoponax & a trio of floral (geranium, violet, and labdanum) this scent is nicely complemented by a bae of warm spiciness for added complexity. The incense, patchouli and vanilla really shine throughout.

This in an autumn/winter fragrance in my opinion due to the warming incense and vanilla in particular.

The longevity of this fragrance is fairly long lasting, 4+ hours on skin.

The classic presentation of a cylindrical glass bottle topped by a black, rounded cone allows you to easily add this perfume to your Byredo suite.

3. Byredo Gypsy Water Eau de Parfum

Byredo Gypsy Water Eau de Parfum

Review

Byredo’s Gypsy Water Eau de Parfum is easily one of their best fragrances. Since its introduction in 2008, it has been celebrated by both women and men for its alluring qualities.

This is a sexy fragrance. Woody, aromatic, and balsamic notes combine to introduce a wonderfully warm scent that is freshened up by the addition of fresh citrus and hints of spice. For me it was the upfront lemon & pepper, plus pine, woody and vanilla that really stood out.

In my opinion this perfume is best worn as a daytime scent during the spring and autumn seasons.

I found the longevity of this fragrance was low compared to others in the range, 3+ hours my skin. The fragrance is lovely so makes up for it, so was happy to reapply.

The signature Byredo cylindrical glass bottle is employed here.

4. Byredo Mojave Ghost Eau de Parfum

Byredo Mojave Ghost Eau de Parfum

Review

Byredo’s Mojave Ghost Eau de Parfum is a lovely oriental perfume that was first introduced in 2014. Its inspiration comes from a “ghost” flower that grows in the Mojave desert with virtually no water and without pollination.

The scent is such a combination of notes and intensified as the hours progress. It’s floral (notes of magnolia and violet), fruity (sapodilla), woody and almost powdery at first, followed by the warmth of amber and musk.

This perfume is best worn during the sunny days of the spring and summer seasons. I would even be as bold to say autumn as it has a fruity side.

This is a long-lasting fragrance, at least 5+ hours.

This lovely scent is presented in the classic Byredo cylindrical glass with a rounded top.

5. Byredo Bibliotheque Eau de Parfum

Byredo Bibliothèque Eau de Parfum

Review

Bibliotheque Eau de Parfum is simply one of the best Byredo perfumes that I have ever tried. Having been launched in 2017, it is one of the newest additions to the Byredo fragrance portfolio. This highly sought after aroma was previously only available in candle form.

The scent opens up nicely with fruity and powdery notes, followed by the subtle warmth of leather and musk. Hints of floral sweetness linger throughout but don’t hold up. I layered it with Idôle Eau de Parfum by Lancôme to get a more balanced scent and the combination really shined.

As this is a fruity/leathery/vanilla fragrance, I feel this perfume is best worn during autumn/winter, day or night.

The longevity of this fragrance is rated as long-lasting, staying on the skin for about 5+ hours.

This scent is presented in the signature Byredo glass bottle with a rounded black cap.

6. Byredo Oud Immortel Eau de Parfum

Byredo Oud Immortel Eau de Parfum

Review

Oud Immortel Eau de Parfum is a beautifully complex element of the Byredo suite of perfumes. The star of this aromatic cocktail is the agarwood, commonly referred to as oud, which is derived from a resin that forms as a result of mold in the trunk of a tree. It has since become one of the most widely utilized components of everything from incense to cologne.

The scent is a satisfyingly warm blend of woody oud notes that dance gracefully with dashes of balsamic, citrus, and warm spice accents. The addition of tobacco leaf lends a smoky quality to this unique fragrance.

This perfume is best worn during the cool days and nights of the autumn and winter seasons.

The longevity of this fragrance was long-lasting, 6+ hours and I could still experience the tobacco, incense and patchouli. There was even the slight lemon zing still which is unusual citrus it to last.

Again, the traditional Byredo cylindrical glass bottle is used in this presentation.

7. Byredo Rose of No Man’s Land Eau de Parfum

Byredo Rose of No Man's Land Eau de Parfum

Review

Originally launched in 2015, Rose of No Man’s Land Eau de Parfum takes its inspiration from the nickname for the nurses who saved so many lives during the First World War. Its lovely aroma easily makes it one of the best Byredo perfumes available.

If you love rose as much as I do then this one is for you. Rose is omnipresent in this beautiful floral rose focused scent that is delicately peppered with hints of soft spice and woody warmth. You need this in your collection, it is my personal favourite.

This perfume is best worn in the daytime during the refreshing seasons of autumn and spring.

The longevity of this fragrance is long-lasting. I could still experience the rose after 5+ hours.

The classic Byredo cylindrical glass bottle encapsulates this scent.

8. Byredo 1996 Eau de Parfum

Byredo 1996 Eau de Parfum

Review

Introduced in 2013, Byredo’s 1996 Eau de Parfum draws its inspiration from a photograph of a young girl by famed visual artists Inez and Vinoodh. The use of juniper berries and patchouli provide an intoxicating aroma that is reminiscent of cognac.

The scent is blatantly powdery with aromatic notes of wood, amber, and leather lending a touch of warmth to the overall experience. It feels both mature and feminine.

This fragrance gave me the feeling of autumn/winter as the warming base of amber and leather hold up nicely and lend themselves well to the florals.

The longevity of this fragrance is long-lasting, 5+ hours. Especially the leather, amber and violet.

9. Byredo Sundazed Eau De Parfum

Byredo Sundazed Eau De Parfum

Review

Sundazed Eau de Parfum is one of the newest members of the Byredo fragrance family, having been launched in 2019. Inspired by the seemingly endless summer days of childhood, the hints of cotton candy and sweet citrus that greet your nose will almost certainly take you on a nostalgic journey to the county fairs of your youth.

The scent of sweet citrus is artfully balanced with the warmth of jasmine and neroli. Throughout the aromatic journey, the sweetness of cotton candy keeps things interesting. If you love lemon then you are in for a treat.

This perfume is best worn during the sunny days of the spring and summer seasons. It’s a happy spring/summer fragrance.

The longevity of this fragrance is medium lasting, 4+ hours. The musk and neroli in particular remain to the end.

10. Byredo Inflorescence Eau de Parfum

Byredo Inflorescence Eau de Parfum

Review

Inflorescence Eau de Parfum is an absolute celebration of the spring season, a time when the natural world is revived in the most vibrant fashion. This captivating perfume evokes the feeling of strolling through a rose garden during full bloom.

A kaleidoscope of floral notes of pink freesia and rose dominate the aroma profile of this refreshingly gorgeous fragrance. The tiniest hints of fresh spice and initially heavy green notes provide a wonderful complement to the main elements. It’s divine.

This perfume is best worn during the refreshing sunny days of spring/ summer.

As expected, gur to the floral notes and lack of a deeper base, the longevity of this fragrance is only moderate 3+ hours. Do not let that put you off, just re-apply when needed. A great fragrance.

Once again, the classic Byredo bottle design is employed in this recognizable presentation.

11. Byredo Reine de Nuit Extrait de Parfum

Byredo Reine de Nuit Extrait de Parfum

Review

Reine de Nuit Extrait de Parfum was introduced by Byredo in 2019 and is best described as a warm chypre floral fragrance. This evening perfume is extremely alluring and seductive, providing the wearer and their companion with the perfect aroma to intensify the mood.

The scent opens up with a combination of balsamic and rose notes followed by warm spice and musk. The various aromatic elements combine nicely to create an oriental evening fragrance. Very sensual.

This fragrance is best worn during the cold nights of the autumn and winter seasons.

The longevity of this perfume is rated as very, very long-lasting. I could still smell it on me after 7+ hours

12. Byredo Casablanca Lily Extrait de Parfum

Byredo Casablanca Lily Extrait de Parfum

Review

Being another of the latest additions to the Byredo family, introduced in 2019, Casablanca Lily Extrait de Parfum counts itself as an integral component of the illustrious Night Veil collection. As the name would suggest, this sumptuous fragrance was inspired by the uninhibited nightlife in the twinkling coastal city of Casablanca.

The intense white floral scent combines faultlessly with the rich sweetness top notes of plum and honey to produce what felt like a classic female fragrance. It also has subtle peppery tones that com to the surface from time to time throughout.

This versatile perfume can be worn day or night during the cool months of the autumn, winter, and spring seasons.

I found the longevity of this fragrance was quite long-lasting 4+ hours.

Again, the classic Byredo bottle design is implemented while the richly dark nectar attracts the eye.
