I am diving into the enchanting waters of Chanel perfumes to compare Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum(2001) vs Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum Intense (2018).

These two fragrances carry the legacy of Chanel but in distinctively unique ways. Both share main notes of rose, orange and patchouli, yet the Intense version reveals more vanilla sweetness.

Review

Created by perfumer Jacques Polge, Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum is a vibrant and fresh oriental scent that pays homage to the spirit of the young Coco Chanel.

Opening with a burst of fresh orange blossom and orange, a floral heart of rose, jasmine, and a touch of mimosa reminds me of a blooming spring garden.

The journey concludes with earthy patchouli, supported by seductive musk, vetiver and vanilla.

Top Notes:

Orange Blossom, Mandarin Orange, Bergamot

Mid Notes:

Ylang ylang, Turkish Rose, Jasmine, Mimosa

Base Notes:

Opoponax, Vanilla, Tonka Bean, White Musk, Patchouli, Vetiver

Review

Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum Intense is where perfumer Olivier Polge takes his father’s original essence and adds a daring, sweeter twist.

This begins with a similar citrusy introduction of orange, but it’s richer, adding depth to the elegant rose heart, supported by jasmine.

The patchouli base is still there, but tonka bean and vanilla add an almost decadent layer of sophisticated and seductive sweetness.

Top Notes:

Orange, Bergamot

Mid Notes:

Rose, Jasmine

Base Notes:

Patchouli, Tonka Bean, Vanilla

Seasons & Longevity

The Intense version is my evening companion for any season. It’s the scent I choose for a night out or a special occasion. It’s bold, it’s confident – it’s a statement in itself.

Coco Mademoiselle Intense is a fragrance that stays with you for 6+ hours and evolves as the night progresses.

Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum

Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum is my top pick, as although the extra vanilla of the Intense version adds sweetness, this classic blend of rose, orange, patchouli and a touch of musk is timeless.

Conclusion

Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum Intense
I prefer Coco Mademoiselle Intense For The Evening

In my opinion, while both these Chanel Mademoiselle fragrances share a common DNA, they reveal themselves differently once they dry down fully.

Both are masterpieces in their own right, and the earthy patchouli note blended with zesty orange in each scent smells oh-so classic Chanel. If you love patchouli, check out Chanel Chance.

Finally, the performance of both fragrances is excellent, each lasting 6+ hours with a head-turning projection and casting a seductive sillage trail.
