Founded in 1980 by Annick Goutal, Goutal Perfumes and Colognes is steeped in the love of fine fragrance and a passion for beautiful things.
Once a pianist and model, Annick Goutal discovered her love of perfumery while working with perfumers on a facial cream and never looked back.
Annick passed the company down to her daughter Camille, who runs it today when she sadly passed in 1999.

7 Popular Goutal Perfumes

One thing I adore about Goutal perfumes is the distinctly French femininity and beauty their fragrances tend to exude. Here are seven classic Goutal delights to explore.
1. Petite Cherie Eau de Parfum

Review
I can’t resist a fruity floral scent, and Petite Cherie is one of my top picks this season. It’s sweet, musky, and well-rounded with juicy overtones that exude feminine energy.
Opening with the brightness of fresh cut grass, refreshing pear and peach, this scent quickly mellows down to reveal a heart of musky rose.
This dry scent slowly gives way to allow base notes of musk and vanilla to join the party. The result is absolutely heavenly.
Top Notes:
Pear, Peach, Grass
Mid Notes:
Rose
Base Notes:
Vanilla, White Musks
Seasons & Longevity
Petit Cherie is the ideal perfume for spring and summer days when the warmer air will allow the softer notes to really bloom and linger.
Wear it to picnic and beach dates to turn heads and expect around four hours of noticeable wear from a single application; the projection is surprisingly strong!

2. Le Chevrefeuille Eau de Toilette

Review
Sunny, bright, and joyful, Le Chevrefeuille is an invigorating floral green scent that brings windswept hills and sparkling waters to mind.
Opening with dry, sweet petitgrain and zesty lemon tree notes that slowly evolve to reveal a floral heart of jasmine and honeysuckle.
Supported by creamy narcissus at the base, this is a lightweight, airy scent that will lift your spirits.
Top Notes:
Lemon Tree Petitgrain
Mid Notes:
Honeysuckle, Jasmine
Base Notes:
Narcissus
Seasons & Longevity
Le Chevrefeuille is undeniably a springtime scent, but it performs surprisingly well in autumn, too and can be a real pick-me-up on dreich days (that’s miserable, rainy, cold days for non-Scots out there).
If there’s one downside it’s that this is a delicate scent that really doesn’t last all that long. Expect to reapply every four hours or so.

3. Tenue de Soiree Eau de Parfum

Review
Rich, velvety, and indulgent Tenue de Soiree is a seductive, intimate scent that conjures the image of candlelit restaurants and sparkling dinner parties. In short, it’s almost a substitute for a social life!
Freesia, Italian bergamot, and pink pepper create an intoxicating start that lingers in the air long after the heart notes of water lily, iris, and violet begin to bloom.
At the base of this blend you will detect patchouli, musk, and praline, creating a rich, velvety finish.
Top Notes:
Italian Bergamot, Freesia, Pink Pepper
Mid Notes:
Water Lily, Iris, Violet
Base Notes:
Patchouli, Praline, Musk
Seasons & Longevity
Tenue de Soiree is a true winter fragrance designed to bloom on the coldest of nights.
The scent is robust and complex, and the blend will last for around eight hours. I know what I’m wearing to the office night out!

4. Heure Exquise Eau de Parfum

Review
One of the earliest fragrances from Goutal, Huere Exquise really embodies the classy, feminine energy that Annick Goutal exuded. It’s fresh and floral with dry, sweet undertones.
The citrusy, slightly spicy note of bergamot that makes up the bulk of the first wave of scent is sweet and warming, making the perfect introduction to the heart notes of hyacinth, iris, and rose as they bloom.
Based on a blend of vetiver, sandalwood, and vanilla, Huere Exquise has a sweet, dry finish that adds depth.
Top Notes:
Bergamot
Mid Notes:
Hyacinth, Florence Iris, Turkish Rose
Base Notes:
Vetiver, Sandalwood, Vanilla
Seasons & Longevity
Huere Exquise is a versatile fragrance; you can wear it from spring to autumn with fantastic results, and it will generally carry you from day to night with ease.
Beware of the projection, however, as it can be quite overpowering when first applied.

5. Rose Pompon Eau de Parfum

Review
Rose scents are classic for a reason; it’s hard to go wrong with them. Of course, in true Goutal fashion, this classic scent is far from dated.
Rose Pompon opens with notes of grapefruit, blackcurrant, and warming pink pepper before allowing a heart of Taif and Bulgarian rose blended with violet.
A robust base of Indonesian patchouli, Thai benzoin resin, vanilla, and amber adds depth and richness.
Top Notes:
Grapefruit, Raspberry, Blackcurrant, Pink Pepper
Mid Notes:
Taif Rose, Bulgarian Rose, Violet
Base Notes:
Patchouli, Benzoin Resin, Vanilla, Amber
Seasons & Longevity
Wear Rose Pompon on breezy spring days when the blend will be able to bloom and show its layers as the perfumer intended.
The sillage is soft, but enduring, and the overall scent will linger all day making it a perfect work day perfume.

6. L’Ile au Thé Eau de Toilette

Review
Inspired by the wild, lush beauty of the Jeju volcanic island on the coast of South Korea, L’Ile au Thé is a citrus aromatic scent with a rich base that invites people to lean closer.
Fragrant lemon blossom gives way to sweet pea and nasturtium, creating a quickly evolving scent that is supported by white musks at the base. Simple but effective, and incredibly beautiful.
Top Notes:
Lemon Blossom
Mid Notes:
Nasturtium, Sweet Pea
Base Notes:
White Musks
Seasons & Longevity
Wear this scent on bright spring and summer days to turn heads wherever you go.
You will need to apply liberally because this scent has a fairly light profile, making it less robust than others on this list.

7. Folie d’un Soir Eau de Parfum

Review
Finishing on a strong note is Goutal’s speciality (and mine!), so it only seems right to round things off with Folie d’un Soir; a sweet, spicy, and robust floral scent with an edible twist.
Pink pepper and fragrant Turkish rose come together in harmony to create an intoxicating start that slowly softens to allow heart notes of myrrh, incense, and resinoid.
At the base, this fragrance has leather and cocoa, creating a uniquely dry and sweet finish with a slightly bitter edge. All-in-all, it’s a mature, classy scent with a little pizazz.
Top Notes:
Pink Pepper, Turkish Rose
Mid Notes:
Myrrh, Incense, Resinoid
Base Notes:
Leather, Cocoa
Seasons & Longevity
Foile d’un Soir is an ieal fragrance for cold weather; wear it on winter and autumn nights when the air is sharp to get the full effect.
This is a potent blend so you just need a little; a few pumps on your wrists and neck will last the best part of the night.

Sheree’s Top Pick

Rose Pompon Eau de Parfum
My top pick is Rose Pompon Eau de Parfum, as the rose-raspberry blend is feminine yet with an elegant powderiness.
