Best Carolina Herrera Fragrances For Men

I’ve curated a collection of the 10 best Carolina Herrera fragrances for men that every guy should consider for his scent wardrobe.

1. CH Men Eau de Toilette

Review

CH Men Eau de Toilette is a masculine woody leather fragrance launched in 2009 as a modern companion to the 2007 CH Women fragrance.

A bright opening of sharp grapefruit and fragrant lavender is bold and manly. Saffron and cyclamen in the heart add spice and a touch of green freshness.

Upon dry-down rich leather dominates, supported by cashmere wood, both adding a masculine depth to the scent that smells confident and masculine.

Performance is reasonable, and you can expect 4+ hours of longevity with moderate sillage and projection, making it a great all-rounder for discreet situations.

I would suggest this fragrance is best suited to autumn/winter but works well for early spring, too. It’s also a relatively light scent that leans more towards daytime wear.

Benefits & Drawbacks

ProsGreat smelling woody/leather combo with a touch of green
ConsDoes not perform as well as it should

Top Notes:

Grapefruit, Lavender

Mid Notes:

Saffron, Cyclamen

Base Notes:

Cashmere Wood, Leather

2. CH Men Privé Eau de Toilette

Review

CH Men Privé Eau de Toilette is a boozy leather evening fragrance with a comforting touch of warmth. Launched in 2015.

As with the original CH Men, grapefruit and lavender start proceedings nicely. The heart is darker as warming cardamom and boozy whiskey accord emerge.

Leather dominates the dry-down, supported by woody vetiver. Settles to a warming and evocative leather/woody scent with spicy undertones.

Performance is pretty good, especially compared to the original scent, so 6+ hours with good sillage and projection is achievable.

CH Men Privé Eau De Toilette is ideal for autumn/winter evenings, thanks to the depth of the leather and the addition of booze. Certainly not one for a summers morning!

Benefits & Drawbacks

ProsAn expensive smelling blend of leather, wood and booze.
ConsNot as boozy as I would have liked

Top Notes:

Grapefruit, Lavender

Mid Notes:

Cardamom, Whiskey Accord

Base Notes:

Vetiver, Leather

Review

Bad Boy Eau de Toilette is an oriental fragrance that blends dark chocolate with spice. Launched in 2019 and was created by Quentin Bisch and Louise Turner.

Nose-tingling grapefruit and white pepper are soon joined by a heart of grassy/woody vetiver and spiced clary sage.

Dry-down showcases vanilla/almondy tonka bean and dark cocoa, allowing a rich chocolatey sweetness to drift through the spice and fruit of the upper layers.

Longevity is good at 6+ hours with decent sillage and projection. I have no complaints about the current formulation.

Bad Boy Eau de Toilette is an ideal fragrance for the cooler months of autumn, winter and spring, thanks to the spice and warmth in the scent. Leans more towards evening.

Benefits & Drawbacks

ProsSmells great and performs well
ConsDoes smell similar to a lot of other cold-weather male fragrances

Top Notes:

Grapefruit, White Pepper

Mid Notes:

Vetiver, Clary Sage

Base Notes:

Tonka Bean, Cocoa

Review

Bad Boy Le Parfum is an aromatic leather fragrance with a greet and twist, very unique. Launched in 2021 and created by perfumers Fanny Bal, Bruno Jovanovic and Nicolas Beaulieu.

Opening notes of zesty grapefruit and the herbal scent of hemp. A heart of sage and geranium brings a lush floral greenness that works incredibly well.

On dry down, the leather and vetiver emerge but never dominate. This unique fragrance is so well balanced that no single note overpowers. Similar to Karagoz by Nishane.

Bad Boy Le Parfum is a long-lasting fragrance at 6+ hours with moderate sillage and projection. It works well all year round, but particularly in winter and autumn. It’s a great fragrance fit to wear during the evening.

Benefits & Drawbacks

ProsAn unusual scent that smells confident and mature
ConsMaybe too unique, not a crowd-pleaser

Top Notes:

Grapefruit, Hemp

Mid Notes:

Sage, Geranium

Base Notes:

Leather, Vetiver

Review

212 NYC Men Eau de Toilette is a modern yet timeless woody floral daytime fragrance inspired by the constant buzz of Manhattan.

This fragrance opens with zesty bergamot and the ultra-clean green freshness of flower stems. Gardenia and jasmine in the heart add brightness but never overpower.

Sandalwood and musk in the base make interesting bedfellows with green and floral notes. Settles to a modern male fragrance that’s fresh and inviting.

Performance is good, 4+ hours in a decent sized bubble before it hovers about the skin for considerably longer. Reasonable sillage and projection.

It’s great for warmer seasons like spring and summer, thanks to the green/floral freshness. Best suited for daytime wear and any occasion, it’s even office safe, in my opinion.

Benefits & Drawbacks

ProsA modern male freshie for spring/summer
ConsDoes not project as much as I would like

Top Notes:

Flower Stems, Bergamot

Mid Notes:

Gardenia, Jasmine

Review

212 VIP Black Eau de Parfum is an unusual aromatic fragrance with a mysterious herbal/star anise kick of absynthe. First launched in 2017 and created by Carlos Benaim and Anne Flipo.

Opening with the slightly medicinal/star anise absinthe note is a quirky start. A heart of bright lavender and discreet leather keeps things manly.

Dry-down showcases sweet vanilla and exotic musk. Settles to a relatively complex and head-turning blend of vanilla, absinthe and lavender.

212 VIP Black Eau de Parfum is a long-lasting fragrance at 5+ hours with reasonable sillage and projection.

It’s a fragrance best for evening wear during the cooler months in winter and autumn. This is an easy reach for when you want something dressy and a little ‘out-there’.

7. 212 Heroes Eau de Toilette

Review

212 Heroes Eau de Toilette is a fresh (and slightly green) aromatic-fruity fragrance launched in 2021. It was created by Domitille Michalon Bertier, Juliette Karagueuzoglou and Carlos Benaim.

The opening of contrasting spicy ginger and sweet pear is well-balanced and fresh. Geranium in the heart brings a green floral vibe with sage and a splash of lemon.

Leather and musk during dry down make an impact without being overpowering. Settles to a fresh yet nicely spiced citrusy male scent with pear, ginger and musk.

It lasts 5+ hours with moderate sillage and projection. Super sweet at first but becomes fresher after an hour or two and becomes similar to Paco Rabanne Invictus EDT.

Despite the musk and leather, I feel it actually works best in the warmer months of spring and summer. Maybe early spring as the geranium stops this being a straight-up warm weather frag.

Benefits & Drawbacks

ProsVery wearable freshie with pear, spice and a twist of lemon
ConsA bit too sweet at first but does freshen up later

Top Notes:

Ginger, Pear

Mid Notes:

Sage, Geranium

Base Notes:

Leather, Musk

8. Mystery Tobacco Eau de Parfum

Review

Mystery Tobacco Eau de Parfum is an Oriental Vanilla fragrance rich in tobacco, vanilla and musk. Launched in 2016, the perfumer is Quentin Bisch.

It’s unapologetically masculine with top notes of citrus and ginger, backed up by a mix of vetiver, tobacco, osmanthus and davana in the heart.

Dry-down reveals musky/earthy patchouli, smooth guaiac wood and sweet vanilla/tonka bean. Settles to a tobacco/vanilla combo with spice and musk.

This fragrance is seriously long-lasting at 8+ hours with excellent sillage and projection.

I recommend this fragrance is ideal for autumn/winter evenings where the rich tobacco essence, sweet vanilla and woody warmth can do their magic.

Also, consider Mancera Red Tobacco for something similar but more potent on the tobacco note.

Benefits & Drawbacks

ProsA brooding vanilla and tobacco combo that’s not too sweet
ConsBrilliant performance

Top Notes:

Citrus, Ginger

Mid Notes:

Vetiver, Tobacco Essence, Osmanthus, Davana

Base Notes:

Patchouli, Guaiac Wood, Tonka Bean

Review

Platinum Leather Eau de Parfum is a grown-up and confident musky leather fragrance. Launched in 2018, the perfumer is Amandine Clerc-Marie.

Pink pepper and cypriol give a spiced pine tree scent on the open. A heart of mainly leather emerges with hints of fresh jasmine to add lift.

The dry-down brings earthy patchouli, semi-sweet vanilla, and exotic musk to finish things off nicely. Settles to a simple yet effective musky leather scent.

Platinum Leather is seriously long-lasting (some people have called this scent eternal thanks to its longevity). Sillage and projection are moderate.

In my opinion, this fragrance has autumn/winter written all over it. It’s a no-nonsense musky leather scent that smells classy and expensive.

Benefits & Drawbacks

ProsA classy blend of musk and leather that’s easy to wear
ConsLasts ages but is not really a room filler projection-wise

Top Notes:

Pink Pepper, Cypriol

Mid Notes:

Leather, Jasmine

Base Notes:

Patchouli, Vanilla, Musk

Review

Gold Myrrh Absolute Eau de Parfum is an exotic oriental fragrance showcasing resin, vanilla and immortelle. It was created by perfumers Alex Lee and Veronique Nyberg in 2021.

Immortelle’s burnt and slightly smokey sugary note bleeds into a heart of liquorice and smooth/dark chocolatey cacao.

Upon dry-down, semi-sweet vanilla and rich/smokey myrrh add warmth to the scent. Settles to a warming vanilla scent with smokey edges that get compliments galore.

This fragrance is long-lasting at 6+ hours with good sillage and projection. The vanilla/myrrh combo last exceptionally well.

It’s an excellent choice for most of the year, particularly autumn, winter and early spring, and I feel best saved for evening wear.

Benefits & Drawbacks

ProsIntoxicating warming blend that reels in compliments
ConsMore unisex than a full-on male scent

Top Notes:

Immortelle

Mid Notes:

Licorice, Cacao

  1. I believe Carolina Herrera’s Confidential line is grossely underrated. I see a bottle reviewed every now and then and it’s always getting top marks, but there are not enough people who are aware of this collection. It would help if CH would ditribute their bottles to more boutiques.
