Best Miller Harris Perfumes
The best Miller Harris perfumes for women bring utterly unique scents to your fragrance wardrobe. Let’s take a mysterious journey to the upside-down of the fragrance world.
1. Lost In The City Eau de Parfum
Review
Miller Harris Lost In The City Eau de Parfum is a vibrant fruity floral fragrance with contrasting rhubarb, rose, and geranium launched in 2018.
Tart/sour rhubarb and semi-sweet blackberry create a stunning and slightly unusual opening. Greenish geranium and fragrance rose in the heart add feminity.
The base is musky with the subtle spice of tea and finally settles to a pretty floral scent of rose and geranium with sharp rhubarb.
Top Notes:
Bergamot Zest, Angelica Seed, Blackcurrant
Mid Notes:
Rhubarb, Rose petals, Geranium
Base Notes:
Earl Grey Tea, Crisp Amber, Musk
Seasons & Longevity
I feel this is a fresh daytime scent ideal for spring and summer. Think shopping trips, garden parties, wedding receptions, etc.
This fragrance has 4+ hours of longevity with reasonable sillage, making it a good choice for everyday wear.
Benefits & Drawbacks
Pros | Feminine rhubarb/rose fragrance with subtle spice |
Cons | Maybe too sharp/crisp for some noses |
2. Rose Silence Eau de Parfum
Review
Miller Harris Rose Silence Eau de Parfum is a delightful rose fragrance with hints of fruit and a graceful musky patchouli base launched in 2015.
The opening is fruity, with juicy blackcurrant and sweet mandarin. A bouquet of Turkish rose blooms from the heart after 5-10 minutes to take centre stage.
On dry down, the exotic earthiness of patchouli creeps in beautifully, as does cashmere musk. Settles to an elegant rose fragrance that smells similar to Parfums de Marly Delina Eau de Parfum (which I also have a sample of).
Pretty much a blind buy if you are looking for a classy rose scent with a touch of musky mystery.
Top Notes:
Mandarin, Blackcurrant
Mid Notes:
Turkish rose absolute
Base Notes:
Patchouli, Cashmere musk
Seasons & Longevity
This spring/summer/fall fragrance is long-lasting at 4+ hours with a good sillage, so an excellent choice for situations when you want to smell elegant but not projects like a homing beacon.
Thanks to the stunning rose and fruity/musky undertones, Rose Silence is perfect for formal daytime wear during spring, summer, and autumn.
Benefits & Drawbacks
Pros | A stunning rose fragrance with a musky undercurrent |
Cons | Sillage and projection are only moderate |
3. Violet Ida Eau de Parfum
Review
Violet Ida Eau de Parfum is a powdery floral fragrance with a touch of vanilla launched by Miller Harris in 2019.
Zesty bergamot and gently spiced carrot oil are first to appear in the opening. The heart of orris butter and heliotrope sadly fail, in my opinion, to deliver any powderiness.
Dry-down brings little vanilla, to be honest, and the scent settles to a linear mix of citrus and spice that neither Andrew nor myself could get excited about.
If you are searching for a beautiful powdery fragrance, this is not it, and perhaps too niche for my nose. Check out my review of the best powdery perfume instead.
Top Notes:
Italian Bergamot, Carrot Oil
Mid Notes:
Orris Butter, Heliotrope
Base Notes:
Vanilla, Liquid Amber
Seasons & Longevity
Lasting approximately 5+ hours with gentle sillage and projection, this is one to reach or when you want something discreet and non-feminine. Best for autumn. winter and spring.
Benefits & Drawbacks
Pros | Bergamot and carrot oil are an interesting mix |
Cons | Not powdery or floral as I expected |
4. Poirier d’un Soir Eau de Parfum
Review
Poirier d’un Soir Eau de Parfum is one of my all-time favourite Miller Harris fragrances. Released in 2015, it’s a complex blend of boozy pear, wood and berries.
Sparkling bergamot and sweet pear create a dazzling opening. A heart of boozy rum, fresh peony and subtle spicy notes are stunning and smell wonderfully vintage.
Dry-down is woody which adds smoothness and grace that soon settles to an expensive and sexy smelling boozy fruity/woody/floral scent. Wow, fantastic!
Top Notes:
Bergamot Italy, Pear
Mid Notes:
Rum, Peony
Base Notes:
Birch, Cedarwood
Seasons & Longevity
This any-season fragrance is ideal for daytime and evening wear and lasts well into the evening (6+ hours). Perfect for fancy nights out, dinners, theatre, bars.
Benefits & Drawbacks
Pros | Beautiful boozy, fruity/woody/floral scent |
Cons | The pear fades after a couple of hours but is still lovely. |
5. Scherzo Eau de Parfum
Review
A Miller and Harris bestseller, Scherzo Eau de Parfum is a glamourous and unique blend of gently spiced spicy rose and smooth woody oud.
This fragrance opens with sweet tangerine and contrasting bitter davana. Spicy rose dominates the floral heart, supported by white flowers and a touch of resin.
The base is an intensely sweet blend of luxurious oud, vanilla, and patchouli that dries to a heavenly spiced rose and exotic woody feminine fragrance.
Also, check out my review on Bond No 9 New York Oud Eau De Parfum for something similar.
Top Notes:
Tangerine, Davana
Mid Notes:
Olibanum, Narcissus, Pittosporum, Dark rose, Peony
Base Notes:
Patchouli, Vanilla, Oud, Sweet Note
Seasons & Longevity
Without a doubt, this perfume has a decadent aroma that is perfect for evening wear and well worth getting dressed up for and going somewhere fancy. Works for any season, but evening only in summer.
Excellent price/performance, with longevity at 6+ hours with excellent sillage and projection. I could smell it on my skin the following day.
Benefits & Drawbacks
Pros | A luxury rose/oud combo that smells expensive |
Cons | More of an evening-only formal fragrance, in my opinion |
Ingrid’s Top Pick
Poirier d’un Soir Eau de Parfum
Poirier d’un Soir Eau de Parfum is my top pick. The elegant mix of booze-soaked spiced pear, wood and flowers is incredible and smells far more expensive than it is.
Conclusion
What I love about Miller Harris is that the brand does not fit comfortably into any one category entirely. Poirier d’un Soir Eau de Parfum is incredible and vintage in its delivery; then we have Rose Silence Eau de Parfum, which is a beautiful modern rose fragrance.
The best Miller Harris perfumes for women have their own unmistakable personality and style. Some are mainstream, whilst others are eccentric enough to keep niche-lovers in their happy place.
So, if you are searching for a fragrance brand that is edgy, contemporary and incredibly niche, I feel that Miller Harris deserves your careful consideration. It’s easy to order samples online (as I did) before you buy so that you can find that perfect scent.
