Matin Martin, a perfume house that fuses French style with Arabian art, has evolved into a symbol of luxury, blending the traditional with the modern.
For me, the brand’s creations are on the niche side of perfumery, from unusual floral bouquets to exotic spices, all tailor-made for the modern woman.
Whether you seek to captivate or innovate, join me as I use my rather fancy Matin Martin discovery set to uncover the magic behind each bottle.
Best Matin Martin Perfumes
Blending florals and fruits with exotic musks and woods, here is my take on the best Matin Martin perfumes for women.
1. Lady Rosa Eau de Parfum
Review
Lady Rosa Eau de Parfum is a refreshingly elegant and romantic floral fragrance with a tart edge, similar to Delina by Parfums de Marly.
A pretty blend of litchi, rhubarb, and bergamot open, gracefully evolving into a floral heart of fragrant rose and peony. Soothing cashmere, vetiver and cedar lingers in the base.
I found that the sweet, soft florals balanced beautifully with the depth from the earthy vetiver.
Top Notes:
Litchi, Rhubarb, Bergamot
Mid Notes:
Rose, Peony, Petalia
Base Notes:
Cashmeran, Vetiver, Cedar
Seasons & Longevity
Perfect for spring evenings or early summer days. I’d wear this on a romantic date or afternoon tea with friends. Lady Rosa will envelop you in a feminine aura for 4+ hours.
2. Jameela Eau de Parfum
Review
Bright and vibrant, Jameela is initially sweet with a slight bubblegum aroma. It’s a fun scent, reminding me of something I’d wear in my younger years.
I’m picking up on the jasmine and tuberose the most, probably because I love these notes, so my mind picks them out first!
The white musk starts to show up and offers a balancing effect, although it’s still primarily sweet and fruity. I prefer it as it dies down a bit, and the tuberose takes centre stage.
Top Notes:
Orange Blossom, Bergamot, Blackcurrant
Mid Notes:
Tuberose, Jasmine, Passion Fruit
Base Notes:
White Musk, Vanilla, Cedar
Seasons & Longevity
Jameela screams spring and summer youth to me. Perfect for beach days and outdoor parties, making a statement for 5+ hours.
3. Miral Eau de Parfum
Review
Miral Eau de Parfum is a delicate, fresh, fruity floral fragrance with a vibe similar to YSL Libre.
This gentle fragrance opens with sweet pear supported by orange and plum. Jasmine and orange blossom add a touch of elegance from the heart.
The base of vanilla, tonka, and ambergris is discreet; jasmine and pear are the most notable notes I detect in this blend.
Top Notes:
Pear, Mandarin Orange, Plum
Mid Notes:
Jasmine, Orange Blossom
Base Notes:
Vanilla, Tonka, Ambergris
Seasons & Longevity
Ideal for spring, summer and fall. I envision myself in a floaty dress with a cool drink in hand. I’d likely wear this for daytime outings, picnics, or a casual brunch.
Miral offers moderate longevity of 4+ hours with a gentle projection, perfect for those who prefer a more subtle scent presence.
4. Silky Saffron Eau de Parfum
Review
Silky Saffron is a unique and bold fragrance with multiple exotic layers to experience.
For me, the earthy notes shout the loudest initially. The leather and vetiver stand out a lot, and I’m not sure if this will be too masculine and dark for me, but then a sweetness reveals itself to try to win me over.
It balances the fragrance, but there is almost a divide between the two. On one side of my wrist, I’m getting the earth notes and sweetness on the other.
It makes it an interesting perfume experience. After about 30 minutes, the whole thing has blended as one, and I’m sold!
Top Notes:
Saffron, Lemon, Grapefruit
Mid Notes:
Leather, Violet, Orris
Base Notes:
Cashmeran, Vetiver, Sandalwood
Seasons & Longevity
An ideal choice for autumn and winter with those earthy tones highlighted. I’m thinking of a long walk in the forest and an afternoon in a coffee house (coffee goes beautifully with this scent).
Despite the heavier notes, Silky Saffron is not overpowering but will last 6+ hours.
5. Rose Oud Eau de Parfum
Review
Rose Oud is a vintage rose fragrance with a powdery edge. I do love a rose and oud usually, but this was my least favourite of the group.
I’d suggest it as a vintage rose. There is a powdery opening, and I can’t say which note it is coming from (maybe the oud?). Makes me think of a vintage powder puff.
A little too heavy on the sandalwood and cedar for me. I’d love a little more elevation from the rose and jasmine; it’s a pass from me.
Top Notes:
Saffron, Bergamot
Mid Notes:
Rose, Geranium, Jasmine
Base Notes:
Oud, Sandalwood, Cedar
Seasons & Longevity
An autumn-winter fragrance, I’d say. I envisage sepia photographs and time spent at grandma’s dressing table playing with trinkets and make-up.
Performance-wise, Rose Oud is long-lasting at 5+ hours with moderate sillage.
Ellisa’s Top Pick
Silky Saffron Eau de Parfum
My top pick has to be Silky Saffron Eau de Parfum because once settled, this fragrance truly delights with aromas of powdery violet, saffron, vetiver and smooth leather.
