Review

Dylan Blue Pour Femme is a bold and sensual fruity/floral fragrance created by perfumer Calice Becker under the guidance of Donatella Versace in 2017.

The fragrance opens with notes of juicy blackcurrant, and crisp apple combined with the brightness of clover, forget-me-not and shiso. A floral heart of soft rose, sweet jasmine, and the fruity-floral note of petalia bloom beautifully. Succulent peach also makes itself known. Upon dry-down, musk is dominant, with hints of balsamic-sweet styrax, white woods, and patchouli.

Dylan Blue Pour Femme is an excellent daytime fragrance that lends itself well to spring and summer wear. Perfect for summer garden parties, shopping sprees, and walks in the sun.

As for performance, it has a decent sillage and projection with the longevity of 5+ hours on your skin, longer on clothing.

The blue glass bottle with gold accents intends to invoke Greek culture, history and mythology, thus linking it with Versace’s Medusa logo.

Dylan Blue is a refreshing feminine fragrance that’s easy to wear and looks fantastic on your dressing table. Fruity, elegant and fresh.

Review

New for 2020, Dylan Turquoise is inspired by an escape to distant islands. Sensual, youthful and utterly fresh, this fragrance was created by French perfumer Sophie Labbé.

Dylan Turquoise opens with sweet mandarin and zesty lemon dusted with pink pepper. Sweet floral heart notes of freesia and jasmine give ways to fruity notes of tropical guava blended with leafy cassis. A woody/musk base adds depth and sophistication. It’s a zesty, fruity fragrance with woody tones.

Dylan Turquoise is a cheerful daytime fragrance, and its freshness makes it the ideal choice for spring and summer. Would make a delightful holiday fragrance thanks to its fruity and zesty fruit combo.

Performance is good with 5+ hours of longevity and reasonable sillage and projection.

The bottle nods towards the ancient Greek design of Dylan Blue, with a turquoise bottle that fits perfectly with the name of the fragrance. Its gold accents and Medusa head Versace logo further cements its link to Greek heritage, history and culture.

This woody/zesty/fruity feminine fragrance is an excellent addition to any collection, and well worth sampling if you are considering investing in your first Versace fragrance.

Review

Versace Bright Crystal Absolu is the latest iteration of Bright Crystal. It is a more intense version of the original fragrance that was designed by Alberto Morillas. It’s a fruity fragrance with delightful floral touches.

The opening is fruity, with the sweet-fruity tart duo of yuzu and pomegranate bathed in aquatic notes. The heart notes are a fruity-floral mix of striking peony and delicious raspberry, with lotus and magnolia in the background. A discreet, yet, warming base of amber, musk and mahogany add a touch of sophistication.

Bright Crystal Absolu is a casual spring/summer fragrance that works best as a daytime scent due to the floral-fruitiness that permeates throughout.

Performance is long-lasting at 6+ hours with moderate sillage and projection—an excellent choice for all-day wear that will not require constant topping-up.

The bottle of Bright Crystal Absolu is wonderfully pink, crystalline and pretty in-your-face. It’s feminine and definitely packs a punch. It’s the same shape as the original version of the fragrance but in a slightly darker pink with white-grey accents.

Overall, if you liked the original Bright Crystal, or you’re just looking for a fragrance that is casual, fruity-floral and feminine, then look no further.

Also, consider Loewe Aura White Magnolia Eau de Parfum.

Review

Versace Eros Pour Femme was created in 2014, inspired by Eros (the God of Love from ancient Greek mythology). This seductive feminine fragrance was created by Alberto Morillas, Olivier Cresp and Nathalie Lorson.

Eros Pour Femme opens brightly with a zesty duo of lemon and bergamot that are soothed by the sweet-tart note of pomegranate. A heart of sparkling floral lemon blossom and sweet jasmine soon steal the show. Touches of soft peony also make a welcome appearance. The base is a discreet musky/woody affair is both sensual and alluring.

This is another beautiful daytime fragrance from Versace that works best in spring/summer and creeping into autumn/fall. This is a feel-good fragrance that puts a spring in your step.

Performance is excellent. The sillage and projection of Eros are quite powerful, with longevity is 6+ hours.

The bottle is rounded, full gold and embellished with metallic golden details. It features Versace’s Medusa logo and a Greek motif. It’s seriously luxe and will capture attention wherever it’s seen.

Overall, Eros Pour Femme is attention-grabbing in all of the right ways and the perfect choice to get noticed without shouting from the rooftops.

5. Atelier Versace Vanille Rouge Eau de Parfum

Review

Part of the Versace Atelier collection which feature one main note as a theme, Vanille Rouge’s composition centres around vanilla. It was created by Spanish perfumer Jordi Fernandez for Versace.

Vanille Rouge opens with almond coated rose, which is soft, delicate and slightly sweet. Soon after, delicious Madagascan vanilla takes centre-stage and become the star of the show. Upon dry-sown, a sensual musky base adds glamour. This is a real eye-opening fragrance from the brand.

As for when to wear, the vanilla/musk combo lends itself best to evening wear in the chillier months of autumn and winter. Vanille Rouge is a fragrance that’s worth getting dressed up for.

Performance is excellent with strong sillage/projection and is very long-lasting at 8+ hours. A fragrance that will last all evening and into the early hours.

Atelier Versace Vanilla Rouge comes in a black glass bottle featuring handmade elements inspired by Versace’s fashion collections and signature brand style. Versace’s Medusa logo appears on the gold cap. It arrives in a beautiful, luxe presentation box like a vintage bottle of champagne and is a really opulent treat.

6. Atelier Versace Éclat de Rose Eau de Parfum

Review

Part of the Versace Atelier collection which features one ingredient as a theme, Atelier Versace Éclat de Rose’s key component is rose. The fragrance was created by French perfumer Nathalie Lorson.

Éclat de Rose opens with blooming Moroccan rose that is pretty, soft and delicate. A smokey heart is soon revealed with incense and tobacco, adding a refined evening vibe. A base of velvety musk and warming amber complete the experience. I could not detect any ambroxan or woody notes personally.

It’s a smoky, floral fragrance that’s more unusual than you might expect if you thought this was going to be a straightforward floral rose fragrance. Highly recommended.

As for when to wear, this rose fragrance that is bathed in sensual musk and warm amber is perfect for the transitional seasons of spring and autumn. In my opinion, this fragrance is more of a late-afternoon and evening scent than daytime.

For a rose-focused fragrance, the performance is far better than I expected. Longevity was 6+ hours with decent sillage and longevity.

Atelier Versace Éclat de Rose comes in a translucent pink glass bottle featuring handmade elements inspired by Versace’s fashion collections and signature brand style. Versace’s Medusa logo appears on the gold cap. It arrives in a beautiful, luxe presentation box (as do the rest of the Atelier Versace fragrances).

This is another opulent treat of a fragrance from Versace – it isn’t just your average, everyday rose fragrance, but rather something more smokey, complex and intriguing.

7. Yellow Diamond Eau de Toilette

Versace Yellow Diamond Eau de Toilette
Credit: Versace

Review

Yellow Diamond marked a journey to lighter, fruitier fragrances following Crystal Noir in 2004. It’s an airy and floral fragrance that’s a luxurious, feminine crowd-pleaser.

The opening notes of Yellow Diamond are bright with neroli, bergamot, lemon and sweet pear. The sweet and slightly powdery floral aroma of mimosa is the central heart note that is soon joined by African orange flower, water lily, and freesia. Upon dry-down, a faint woody/musky base adds a discreet cloud of mystery.

It’s a gorgeous spring and summer scent that combines cheerful floral notes with a sweet fruitiness. Extremely wearable for lots of different occasions without it seeming out of place. More for daytime.

Performance is pretty good, with longevity at 5+ hours and decent sillage and projection. Works best in warm weather.

As you’d expect, the bottle is yellow and indeed representative of a large, faceted diamond. Its box is decorated with baroque ornaments, and it’s definitely eye-catching.

Yellow Diamond is a lovely, happy scent that’s fresh, elegant and easy to wear that is well worth the investment.

8. Crystal Noir Eau de Toilette

Versace Crystal Noir Eau de Toilette

Review

Donatella Versace has said that Crystal Noir is a rare essence that’s both sensual and delicate. This striking oriental floral fragrance was created by French perfumer Antoine Lie for Versace in 2004.

Crystal Noir opens with spicy top notes of ginger, cardamom and pepper that really grab your attention. A fruity/floral heart of vibrant gardenia and sweet coconut re most prominent, and joined by a touch of orange blossom and peony. Upon dry-down, a base of sandalwood, musk and warm amber cast their magic.

This is (without a shadow of a doubt) an evening fragrance that works best in autumn and winter. It has a heavy sillage and is super long-lasting at 7+ hours, so ideal if you want to make a lasting impact with your scent.

The packaging is glamorous and seductive. It’s the same shape as others in Versace’s Crystal range, invoking the form of a faceted diamond or crystal stopper. The colour ranges from black to a deep maroon/red colour.

This is a sexy, spicy fragrance that’s surprisingly complex, luxurious and exotic. Definitely worth trying if you love scents with a little bit of bite.

Top Notes:

Ginger, Cardamom, Pepper

Mid Notes:

Orange Blossom, Peony, Gardenia, Coconut

9. Oud Oriental Eau de Parfum

Versace Oud Oriental Eau de Parfum
Credit: Versace

Review

Versace Oud Oriental is a luxurious and feminine oriental woody fragrance that’s deep seductive and sensual and possesses a Middle Eastern vibe.

Oud Oriental opens with notes of striking rose and bitter-sweet saffron. Middle notes of patchouli, violet and heliotrope are soon to appear but do not detract from the delightful rose note. The rich/woody oud base soon rises to create a stunning oud/rose focused scent. Sandalwood, leather and vanilla hover around the edges.

The fragrance is a good all-rounder and works for day or night (maybe slightly more suited to evening wear). Its profile works best in fall and winter thanks to the warmth in the oud notes of the scent.

Longevity is 6+ hours with good sillage and projection.

The bottle is entirely gold coloured with an engraved Medusa logo and cap decorated with a discreet Greek motif, well in line with other Versace fragrances.

Versace Oud Oriental is seductive, sensual and surprisingly easy to wear thanks to the creamy base notes that stop some of the spicier, warmer notes from becoming overwhelming.

Top Notes:

Rose, Saffron, Freesia

Mid Notes:

Patchouli, Violet, Heliotrope

Base Notes:

Agarwood, Leather, Sandalwood, Vanilla
